2025-03-04 15:46:32 +0000 UTCSeason 2 is unironically competitive with the best literature I've ever read. It's so good it peaks beyond its own medium as a story.

2025-02-20 00:25:42 +0000 UTCThe crazy thing about vinland saga is season 2 was where it was originally going to start, but the author realized he should add a prologue to lead into it. The season 1 story is the "prologue" section. The mangaka created Askeladd originally to just be a driving antagonist with no feelings towards Thorfinn, but he said as he wrote it it felt like Askeladd was speaking to him and making his own decisions, and that when he went to write the death of Askeladd he realized how much he cared for Thorfinn, and that he would tell Thorfinn to leave all this hatred and revenge behind.

2025-02-17 19:43:14 +0000 UTCOne of the best final episodes ever made in the history of all shows I've seen whether anime or live action. We were never meant to "love" Askeladd, he was almost as a main character but yet the villain in this show. I really love the twist and the message behind it all. Even after everything, he wants Thorfinn to move on. Like he could've told Thorfinn that Floki was behind the assassination of his father yet he did not because he knows that he got to move on. The dropping of the dagger, leaving his revenge and now he has no purpose. Thank you for this amazing season that was only the prologue. Now the true story of the MC begins. "I must rely on a sword like this, because I am not yet a master. A true warrior doesn't need a sword." "Become a true warrior" This is why this episode is highly regarded as the best episode ever, should deserve a 10/10 on IMDB

2025-02-17 17:58:56 +0000 UTCSeason 2 is in my opinion a masterpiece. Even though a lot of people dropped the show during season 2 because of the drastic change from season 1 I hope you guys enjoy it for what it is

2025-02-17 17:39:44 +0000 UTCThe bird is an arctic tern. Terns are seabirds with really long migrations. They literally migrate from the arctic circle to the antarctic circle, and back (30,000km round trip) so they are often a symbol of life's journey/endurance/adventure/returning home after a long time. It can also represent anxieties or issues that need resolving. as with any bird, they also represent freedom. So with all of that said, the moment it appears, and what comes after-the symbolism is very poignant. Definitely a thoughtful decision by the creators. Terns show up often in the manga, including a few chapter titles (won't say what the titles are called though). I also think we have seen terns a few times through out S1 but I could be misremembering.

2025-02-17 16:14:44 +0000 UTCThis episode is PEAK and we've made it through the prologue, now on to season 2. You are not ready for season 2. Can't wait to follow your journey going forward. Askeladd is perfectly written, as you said yo hate him, you admire him, you come to like him and in the end grieve his loss.
