That last scene brings back memories of my late father. He had multiple sclerosis, a disease that shares a lot of symptoms with what Kaori is showing, but much later in life. The startling fear and frustration shown when her legs failed her match perfectly how my dad reacted the few times it happened to him. Seeing that was one of the 3 times in my life that I felt actual terror. The show runners had to have done a decent amount of research to nail this.
