This is the thing I don’t get. They have no problem killing and torturing Subaru but they can’t bear seeing Subaru suffering in his sleep so they hold his hands?

2024-02-23 00:49:00 +0000 UTCWhat helped is to not think of each restart as a true reset to the progression of the story, cuz each time he learns something new. And you will notice, each time his actions are different to get the results he wants. He definitely gets smarter about this stuff as time goes on and he gets more used to return by death. Also to answer your confusion, the show tends to give you all the answers, so really the only way to know is to watch more episodes This arc was the hardest to understand at first for me, cuz its still technically worldbuilding along with the confusing amount of different things killing him. Later arcs still have things trying to kill him, but at least some of the basics are established already

The wind magic killed him, it was used by ram. She ended subarus life out of pity. Ram is also the one who cut Subaru's leg. She was hidding in the forest and did wind attacks from there. This is shown when Ram attacks Subaru latter with a wind attack and Subaru remembers it. - In his first loop in the mansion, Beatrice already knows he's cursed but she ignores it - After Rem tortured him, in the next loop he was self harming himself with a pen so he wouldn’t sleep. subaru was so afraid of dying that he decided not to sleep for 3 days straight, to keep himself awake, he stabbed his own hand multiple times with a pen
