Yukino does not believe in the codependency thing. She had a monologue about it the LN that the anime omits, itβs just a convenient poison sheβs chosen to swallow.

2025-09-03 07:34:52 +0000 UTCI definitely agree with your frustration about Yukino. It was one of my biggest gripes about S3, tbh. That it felt like she like... lost the ability to speak for herself, at all? But frankly, it's cuz of that Toxic sister of hers convincing her that apparently having anyone ever help you at all is "codependance" aka "a toxic relationship". If there's one huge win for Yui in this show, is that the second she found out about this "co-dependence" arguement she immediately went back and fought Haruno on it and basically told her how stupid she fucking is. I also love that Haruno's entire arguement when Hiki presented the plan to indirectly help Yukino against her wishes that it's "just semantics" and she's "still relying on you" when her entire arguement for why they're codependant has been semantics from the start. I mean hell, she literally admits to Yui "thats what it looks like to me". Well guess what! YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INFORMATION to make an accurate conclusion! So maybe we shouldn't care what you think! Good job Yui. Stand up for yourself! Side-note: Proof in this episode that the Mom is super reasonable and not as bad as Haruno has made her out to be. Crazy how we're like, 17 for 17 (exaggerated) on "Haruno thinks this is true but has the stupidest take that isn't even accurate".

2025-09-03 01:32:26 +0000 UTCRemember, this is a story about 3 teens with self esteem issues whose lives were entangled and also greatly impacted in the accident at the beginning of the school year, and about each compensating with a different form of self-destructive habits. Hikigaya is self deprecating and self sacrificing to a fault, Yukino pushes those close to her away, and Yui just goes with the crowd.

2025-09-03 01:27:02 +0000 UTCYou gotta remember , neither Yukino or Hachiman knew the other would be there on their aquarium date which if it wasnβt clear also happened to be on Valentines. From Yukinoβs perspective Hachiman accepted a date with Yui and she was just third wheeling, she even offered to leave if she was intruding which is what sheβs basically done all season and sure enough suddenly the two are spending a lot more time together. We can tell Yui x Hachiman wouldnβt be the genuine ending, but Yukino is convinced that it is. Why Hachiman is just accepting all this though idk, maybe he took being asked to grant Yuiβs wish as a rejection and is just too defeated to argue at this point.
