2025-09-03 05:15:52 +0000 UTCYeah for sure. He's a reflection of Horikita's whole arguement in that you can't use emotion to guide this test because of the nature of it. You have to use logic. Hirata let emotion dictate his votes and the reality is that even if his rep had actually gotten Horikita kicked... it would have only proven her right. That they removed one of their top students and greatest assets and kept a back-stabbing, useless member of the class.

2025-09-03 02:07:41 +0000 UTCThere is something always so satisfying about watching Yamauchi get booted. Beyond the fact he's just a douche from start to finish... It was so obvious he was the target from the get go. And even if he proved fully competent and actually got the votes to go through on Ayanokoji Class A's vast array of positive votes would have protected him regardless. Side-note, aside from Prez's accurate callback to the cane-incident at the start of the season. There was one other major hint that Yamauchi was the real target. Sakayanagi went out of her way to contact Ayanokoji several episodes ago and privately inform him that their "Bet" was being post-poned since her pa was booted off the schools seat. She then never re-instated that duel. So it's pretty unlikely (based on what we know of Sakayanagi) that she would target Ayanokoji for real without informing him that the duel was back on the table.

2025-09-03 02:05:17 +0000 UTCYup. His behavior here is less bizarre when you're already aware of what happened in his past. Which he partly reveals during the Cruise Ship exam, which was skipped in the anime. Probably because they weren't planning on continuing the adaptation past season 1.

Ayanokoji controlled the scenario so that Horikita would end up exposing Sakayanagi so that she chooses Ayanokoji instead I guess. I'm guessing she switched when exposed is because she made a "truce" with ayanokoji and still planned something to expose him and in order to not "break" the truce, she saved Ayanokoji.

He was trynna be the one voice for everyone. This is where the Light Novel is better, because we fully get Hirata’s personal opinions are mindset
