I agree with the "not feeling a connection to the new characters" thing. One of my main complaints is that this season the characters feel less like a family than in the first series, and more just like a group of characters together because they have powers. Think only 3 or 4 of the new characters I actually properly enjoy by seasons end, Beetle, Beast Boy, and a character who you meet very very soon, arguably one or two others, but barely.

There once was a superhero named Apache Chief. His power was growing his body, becoming a giant. The opposite of The Atom. Tjey got rid of him though, because people complained about his name being racist... despite the character actually being an actual chief of an apache tribe. Is it really racist if it's true? But anyway, this episode, and the character of Ty Longshadow as a whole, is a not-so-subtle nod to the character from the 70s.

No. When this first Aired I was always super hyped to see what they where doing with the other "Sidekicks". What Earth 16's versions would be like, what back stories they'd use on this earth's heroes.

Was I unique in being happy with the new characters from the get-go? I had seen these guys on Teen Titans, various Batman cartoons, and other DC media and I was always excited when new ones were introduced. I feel like they should watch Teen Titans at some point too.

I wouldn't call this a 'filler' episode; it sets up a ton of stuff that plays out for the rest of the series.

Unfortunate timing for a filler episode because it ruins the flow of reintroducing the old characters and establishing this seasons storyline... wasn't looking forward to this one because it just delays the next two.
