Another thing to notice is, Bradley is a Homunculus with only one soul. He said that plainly in this episode. That's why Ling said that Bradley looks like normal human to him compares to Gluttony and Envy. Because not like Bradley, they have tons of human souls inside their body. That's why they have super fast regenerating power. And Bradley doesn't have it. In other words, he is not immortal.

The one that with Al's body is his "Truth". Just like in the beginning of the series Ed saw his "Truth" taking his leg for the toll of opening the portal. The Al's body we seen in this episode is actually Al's "Truth" with Al's body. And he was facing Al's portal before Ed called for him. Their portals is in the same place because they both did the transmutation together.

I think of "the Truth" as the absolute truth, all the information, the rules of knowledge itself, is not a being at all, but thats how I think of it!

I read Adonai on the door at 11:49. It means "Lord" in Jewish. It was like a replacement word so that people didn't actually say God's name, YAHWEH.

The clapping alchemy is a result of seeing "the truth". It is a result of seeing God. So Ling was just noticing that it looks similar to praying.

Remember when we say The Truth in this episode, it had Ed's limbs. Well, each person has a version of the Truth within them. SO Al's body communicating with Ed wasn't actually Al at all. It was God, The Truth, in Al's form. Al's version of The Truth.

the thing to take in consideration is that everyone can interpret everything they see in this show and not necessarily be wrong. per example I believe ling's comment about praying gives us an insight into how religious ling is compared to Edward. and some people can just go and say yeah he really does look like he's praying and take nothing else from that exchange.

Think of it like this Al's Body contains about 5% of his soul and the Armor contain's the 95% that's left

I think you are being too Western in your thinking, this fact correlates to this action, kind of thinking. How do you qualify "spirit/soul", what is "the truth". Each person has a different "truth", hence Al & Ed had two different doors. Why do you assume that "truth" is a being. I believe that the "truth" is so much knowledge in one place it SEEMS to be alive, and in EXCHANGE for your Life (& the truth covets LIFE) you receive/gain knowledge. Equivalent Exchange.

Guys there's a loooot to talk about "The Truth" but i could consider that as spoilers, you need to watch until the end of the show, to understand what the truth really is, and also is pretty open to your own interpretation.
Just remember back in episode 2 what the Truth answers to Ed when he asked Who are you?
-"Im so glad you asked...im called by many names Im the world, im the universe, im God, im truth, im all, im one, and im also you"

everyone has their own truth door. al's body is sitting in front of al's door. the reason ed and al's door's are in the same place is because they used their combined blood in their failed human transmutation.

The consciousness of als body is the truth guy, or more specifically als truth. That's how i see it.

At this point in the series I thought Truth was a jerk ass god not outright evil or trying to crossover to their reality. He took body parts from Ed, Al, and their teacher Izumi but that was after they tried to defy the natural order of life by bringing back the dead. It seemed like it's was punishment for the attempt to play god. I do like the discussion they had about it being another being in higher dimension, although I like to add that it can totally be a being from higher dimension and God. Truth being in a higher plane or different plane of the existence doesn't really go against it being God. If there is a God it being in a higher plane than us humans would make sense.

it's not explained, but I took from it that the author more or less meant for it to be taken that a body would still function cognitively if you took it's soul. if you think back to barry the chopper he was killed first and then his soul was bonded to armor. But then an animals soul was bonded to his body and continued to live on.overall I feel the concept to be that soul and body are both a person and can function without the other, with the difference being a body is mortal and a soul is immortal

Exactly, they're tethered to one another and the only reason they could see each other's door.

Only the alchemist who performed the human transmutation will see the portal of Truth. And since Ling and Envy are not alchemists, I don't think they can see one.

The last scene of Ed is one of my favorites of the entire series.
2017-08-06 16:40:29 +0000 UTC
The other door was Al's. The pattern on the door is different for each alchemists. The reason why Ed can see Al's door was because they used their blood for transmuting their mother. As a result. Ed and Al are connected by the minds / spirit (that was Ed's theory on why he is short. Due to their connection, Ed is also giving nutrients to Al).

I always thought Ling's comment on Ed's stance while he does alchemy had to do with the fact that Ed isn't a very religious person; he does not believe in God. So it would weird, or significant that he would take a stance like that, I guess. But that's just me.
