The Reach, The Light,& bad guy aliens all want the entire JLU to be destroyed,the want their strength, power and to control Earth and other planets and universes. The JL not help create peace for earth and the rest of the rest of the universes and protect them.The bad guys don't want that.And Mal was at the high school in the Superman shirt ,Bumblebee is his long time gf.She was that cheerleader. She got her powers working with Dr. Ray Palmer & ended up becoming a superhero. Great reaction guys.

2017-09-16 19:08:26 +0000 UTCYes, Mal was the football player who wore Superman t-shirts and dressed as "Superman done right" at the Halloween party at Connor and Megan's high school (the Superman done right outfit is a nod to Superboy's original outfit in the comics). The only reason he is on the team is because he stumbled upon the character's secret identities through his relationship with Karen/Bumblebee (who herself was a cheerleader at the high school, and now that she's in college she works as lab assistant to Dr Palmer/The Atom, which is how she got her own shrinking powers). And at that point, with him not only knowing their secrets, but actively dating a member of the team, from the teams perspective, it was either bring him into the fold, or risk him blabbing. But since then he has proven a trustworthy and reliable Ops manager.
