"Harmonic Convergence"

Legend of Korra 2x12 Reaction Early Access!

I dont see a full length also. Im wondering if its a glitch or not being posted

Agreed. "Dark" has over time become interchangeable with "Evil" when it's not. It is its own element necessary for maintaining balance.

Almsy

Dammit, I wanna see it

Alex Morelli

man wwf was great now it's shit i only watch WM for the last 4 years

hamad

I always like the idea of Dark not being Evil. It's not malicious, it's just darker than usual.

P.A. Master

Where can i find erics tshirt?

Koray

It would make sense why Boomy can't bend since his spirit is aligned with earth more than water or air. It's a great inclusion in the show that illustrates overcoming and being able to achieve your goals even if you are different.

Love wrestling!!

Vatuu is the spirit of darkness and chaos. Unalaq calling himself the Dark Avatar could be a reference to Vatuu’s nature, not him calling himself evil mc-evil plans. Really at this point it’s obvious Unalaq doesn’t care about the world and spirit world. He just wants power and to be in charge of the new world order. Just like he how he framed his brother to get him removed from the line of succession so he could be chief. Korra pegged him well.

is there going to be a full length for this episode?

There's this really awesome analysis someone wrote out that basically outlines how the bending styles of characters inform their character and how changing styles signify their growth. But also they talk about how the bending styles also show a lot about how the economic/govt has changed in LoK from ATLA (basically from rural to urban areas of fighting and how ATLA displays massive property damage and LoK is all about containing damage). It's super awesome and I can't do it justice and I'll send it to y'all at the end of the show because it has major spoilers for book 4

“You guys think we’re gonna lose someone?” The next episode gets me in the feels everytime especially when all those lives get taken. Tears may be shed

The new canon comicbooks does mention the 100-year darkness, claiming it was what birthed the Sith. So while the Sith as a species prolly won't appear outside of legends, it has been confirmed that at least the old Eu schism in the original Jedi Order did happen in some way, at some point. Also, Unalaq being a fairly one-dimensional stereotypically evil villain just for the sake of being evil is one of the biggest criticisms season 2 of Korra has. I won't spoil anything of course, but rest assured, future adversaries in Korra will be more nuanced and fleshed out.

Fire is Korra's favorite element

This episode was awesome, I don't understand the people who hate this season.

Pheonix

Yeah completely agree with everything you said this season did feel very rushed and Unalaq as a villain is very under developed because of that. His reasons for wanting to become the dark avatar just feel like "because why not".

Firebending is mainly based off Northern Shaolin style Kung Fu. Waterbending is mainly based off Tai Chi. Earthbending is mainly based off Hung Gar (a Southern Shaolin style Kung Fu). Airbending is mainly based off Ba Gua Zhang style Kung Fu. Toph uses a different style than other Earthbenders, her bending is based off the Chu Gar Southern Praying Mantis style. The Republic City Police Metalbenders also use some moves from Chu Gar. Pro-bending is heavily influenced by aerial acrobatic martial arts with MMA and UFC styles of fighting.

I cry everytime

Raul Martinez

Hoo boy...you guys are NOT going to like WHO we lose.

Sky Sirak

I mean, if you really don't wanna wait, you could keep watching.

:O

Ho.Ly. Shit. Another wrestling tangent in the world of Avatar reactions. What are the odds?

Austin Bryant

That's not quite correct. The villian's in Legend of Korra believe in different ideologies. Amon was to represent Communism, and Unalaq stands in for Theocracy. Thinking of Raava and Vaatu as opposites isn't quite right, it's more like they are flip sides of the same coin. Anarchy is... another villian.

Listening to this conversation about the Dark Avatar I kind of wish that Jinora was being made into the Dark Avatar. That would have forced Korra to be conflicted about fighting an enemy that she can't afford hold back against. That would have made the conflict so much more dramatic. Plus they could've spun it as a mirror version of Aang's fight against the firelord when he was in the Avatar State. Unalaq is a passable villain but he's too cut and dry to be interesting. They don't even take advantage of the fact that he's Korra's uncle. That should have been so dramatic but the fact they're related hasn't been brought up since the season began. A lot of this, I think, has to do with the fact that the production team was jerked around so much by the execs at Nickelodeon about getting a second season, and when they did because of Season 1's success, they wanted it done in half the time so there wasn't a chance for the story team to refine the ideas that they might've had when they first started working on Season 2. It's one of the reasons I feel Season 2 is the weakest of the 4 seasons of LoK. Does anyone disagree and why?

Can't. Wait. For. The. Finale.

By him stating he was the Dark Avatar I took it more so as him claiming he is the opposite of what Korra and Raava stand for. Remember Raava is the Spirit of Light and Vaatu is the opposite of that. So by fusing with Vaatu he he recgonises himself as the " Dark Avatar".

Alric Amon

Bryan and Mike said that they decided to use MMA as the inspiration for bending forms in Korra instead of the different forms of matial arts for each bending style in TLA.
