I was so happy watching this reaction. All their questions and predictions were partly answered. From wanting Bumi to be a bender, wanting to leave Republic City, working out how to bring the air nation back and the Air Speciality theories. I don’t think there’s one episode this season where I’m like meh. It’s a great storyline. Well worth the wait. S3 Bitches!! YASSSS

I wouldn’t be surprised. Air nomads traveled by nature. It would make sense if there were some who had children with people outside of Air Nomads and those kids had descendants carrying the gene.

In actual fact, not all the airbenders were wiped out. It was confirmed in a comic that was released a while back that Sozin spent some time hunting down the surviving airbenders. I read a very interesting theory.. that even I myself consider legit at this point. Essentially the airbenders that weren't hunted down sought out refuge in the earth kingdom. They were forced to hide their heritage and blended in with the population. They then in turn married .. had children and those children had children .. and blah blah blah. So the theory is the offspring of these airbenders contained the recessive airbending trait but the power and energy of harmonic convergence made these traits dominant retroactively making them airbenders in order to restore balance to the world.

They don't read comments but if there is a moderator you can tell them that after harmonic convergence the world is trying to put itself back into balance again. In the past, all air nomads born into one of the temples was born a bender. There was no such thing as a air nomad non bender due to their close affinity with the spirits and their spirituality.

As for if bending is genetic or spiritual I still fall in the middle, the harmonic convergence from last season brought a shift in the world energy, and they say that might be the cause, but still every bender we saw bended the element correspondent to their eye color, that cannot be coincidental. So maybe those guys had the gene for air bending but they lacked spiritual energy? Or maybe air bending is a recessive gene? Every time spiritual shit is brought up in avatar is a mind fuckery and a deus ex machina most of the time

agree. S3 is the story arc peak of Korra. Though I love S4 probably just as much. As I am a sucker for epilogues and seeing what is down the road and all the consequences. Plus the angst and all of Korra her Character development truly pay off in S4. While S3 is the best, S4 in my opinion truly rounded out the series. Plus even at its worst... Avatar is still a damn amazing show while at its best it can blow out most competition live action or animated. ;)
