Episode 36 alludes to Hoenhiem’s reasons for leaving without outright stating it. Basically Hoenhiem left to stop Father and find a way to become mortal again because he didn’t want to outlive them and watch them die.

I think when Ling is in control he can't use the ultimate shield. I'm not sure though.

It also shows how different Ed and Al are, even though they happen trought the same as kids, Compare the first time they both see him after all those years, Ed calls him Hoenheim and has never calls him dad or father, he refuses to see him as their father figure after he left them. And Al straight away calls him dad and he's not ressentfull agains him. Thats shows that Al is more gentil, i love Al his soul is so pure xD

Something to think about is that this is the first time Al and Hohenheim have seen one another since Hohenheim left when Al was 3. The reason that Hohenheim didn't think that Al wanted to talk to him was based on Ed's reaction to him at Trisha's grave.

Will the full reaction be uploaded in the January Google Drive link?

In the episode they already said they got nothing special from Hohenheim, why they keep speculating about that? Unless the dub is bad enough to not clarify that
