It just occurred to me...was Asami running into Mako on her scooter a reference to FLCL(Fooly Cooly)? Also this clip show is really fun and creative! ESPECIALLY since they had no budget and could barely put in any new animation, unlike Ember Island Players which still had a full episode's budget.

I think the creators actually did good with what they had to work with. Varrick really made this episode worth it for me. Mako and Korra's weren't that bad either. But I think this episode proves that Nickelodeon sucks.

I remember book 2 and book 4 were the most controversial ones of the series back when it was still airing. Many people disliked book 4 or found it more boring like Shane when it came out. At the time they were making book 4 Spirits was the least liked book for Korra’s behavior the first half and people just hated Unalaq and found him to be Ozai but without the evil is cool and epiciness of the great evil. People liked and loved Vaatu though. Yes the villains excluding Unalaq was a nod to the fandom’s lackluster reception of him, but why Vaatu was part of the group.

Again, I'm not giving them a free pass, or denying that people will have preferences. Just saying! :)

I will never hold it against anyone that does, but I never felt the need to compare Korra to Avatar. It may be a sequel of sorts, but it's still it's own thing. Again, nothing against people's opinions or analyzing or critiquing, but Im with the show when it basically says "stop comparing, stop overthinking things, and just enjoy the ride for what it is." You'll enjoy it far more what they managed to accomplish with the constraints they had that way :)

@Blindwave: also yes Avatar Last airbender "clip show" was better since it had a real budget. This season its budget was cut so The creators had two choices either make a clipshow ep. Or fire people. They didnt wanted to lay someone off so they caved and did the Clipshow (sth the creators HATE with a passion) Nickelodeon fucked its best franchise over for no good reason. Lightning in a bottle that will stand the test of time and they treated it like shit.

Even if you give her credit as being exceptionally spiritual, Jinora spirit bombing for all intents and purposes a god of the spirit world to any degree of effect is inexcusably dumb. There's nothing wrong with having trouble stomaching that. There were aspects to like about book two but it had the most misfires by far.

the episode was originally gonna be about kuvira's backstory, but nickelodeon told the creators to do a recap episode instead or else they would cut their budget. So blame nickelodeon cause executive meddling folks...for better for for worse
