Awesome reacttion, guys, thank you for that! Travis was actually bit by real snakes, no poisinous ones, ofc. But that's so cool, and that speach was also (according to the sagas) held by Ragnar, he was so angry while he held the speach, that he banged on the cage bars, you also see that in this episode, he was angry because he didnt believe any of the words he was saying, because he died as an athiest. Wow he did such a good job! He also said "How the little piggies will grunt when they hear how the old boar suffered" in the sagas, and that sentence will mean so much throughout the rest of the season. Originally the speach was so much different when Hirst handed Travis the script, but Travis changed it a bit, adding more about the sons in the speach. Man, this is so good, no matter how many times I've watched it!

Travis Fimmel did a terrific job on Ragnar, that's why this character so unique and memorable, and it's a real shame that he didn't win anything for his performance. His portrayal of Ragnar is definitely in the top 3-5 greatest TV performances of all time, like Ragnar isn't just a mythical Danish king, but in fact was a real person.

Sadly, this is "historically" how Ragnar died. Thrown in a pit of snakes by King Aella. (I say historically with quotation marks because it's still not conclusively proven that Ragnar existed beyond the sagas, or if he was the representation of a mix of people.
