Shazam is the original Captain Marvel, his name has always been Captain Marvel but since Marvel had Marvel they stopped callingg him that cause they didn't want to get in a war with them. So now he is called Shazam which has always been the same name he used to call upon the power of the 7 greek gods when he was called Captain Marvel. Also it depends on the which version your reading or seeing of him cause in some comics he is a teen that turns into Shazam in others he is a kid and on.

Captain Marvel's name was officially changed to SHAZAM in the New 52 as a result of a longstanding rights issue with Marvel's character of the same name.

To understand the name of Captain Marvel/Shazam you must know that he was created in 1939 and published by Fawcett Comics. He was so popular his books outsold even Superman. DC sued Fawcett Comics claiming the character was a copy of Superman. DC won and Fawcett stopped publishing his book in 1953 and could never publish Captain Marvel again as an agreement in the settlement. In the 1960's Marvel created a character and named her Captain Marvel and copyrighted the name for their character. Thus when DC bought the rights to Fawcett in 1972, they were unable to use the name and were forced to change it to Shazam. So, technically both names are correct for the character.

Shazam's name is not Captain Marvel anymore as that name belongs to Marvel Comics. So now he is known as just Shazam. That deal occurred after Young Justice aired however

Show gets better. As you've seen there are a lot of episodes which have a larger plot and better character direction, but it is interspersed in the first season with random one-offs that are kind of pointless. Be patient.
