Too be honest I really liked Legend Of Korra .Even when Nick gave up on the show they still delivered good solid seasons 3 and 4 did the show creators. I liked best about the series was that teenage and young love is complicated and liked how Korra was different from Last Air Bender .

I thought it was pretty clear that non benders can have a bender child. Hakoda and Kya were non-benders yet had Katara who is a water bender.

You guys are thinking about how bending is passed down unto offspring too much. I love it, though. A firebender and waterbender can have children that could be firebenders, waterbenders, or no bending ability at all. An earthbender and non-bender can have nonbending and earth bending children. The one thing that isn't clear is if two non benders can have bending children? Shrugs... And no it isn't decided by region, it's decided by the bending / lack of bending ability of the parents.

I know you guys probably know this already but please ignore the Korra naysayers in the youtube comments. There is a small but vocal group of people who love putting down the show. It's not a perfect show but it's still wonderful. Concerning the production of the show. While the show was split into 4 books, the production was actually split between two production seasons. Nickelodeon initially ordered half a season for the first book. and then subsequently ordered the second half of the first season followed by the second season for a total of 52 episodes. Due to a scheduling conflict, the original animation studio. Studio Mir, had declined to animate book 2. So you see a difference in the look of the show at the beginning of book 2. Nickelodeon practically begged Studio Mir to animate the remaining episodes and you see a return to the quality of the animation around the half way mark of the second book.

Brike won't be doing a 3rd series as they have said, but it could be picked up. by someone else possibly as a prequel. There are thousands of past Avatars you could base it on at any point in time in the history of the world basically, so many possibilities. Maybe as a Netflix show if they bought the rights to it. Nick did effect some stuff on the show including some story laziness because of the surprises in how many episodes they were going to have, or if it was even getting picked up for a season 2. They didn't quite have the freedom to plan out a whole story arc through the series. It was still pretty awesome though, not on the level of Avatar, but still top tier for sure.

Yep she really does seem more like a firebender...watch her fights closely throughout the series. She usually opens up with firebending or ends up totally relying on it when her backs against the wall.

Adore this show right from the beginning, but what I wouldn't give to travel into the future to see your reactions to Book 4, simply one of the greatest finale seasons to a show EVER :D

Actually Nickelodeon ordered the first season and then all the rest at once after that. Although for some reason Nickelodeon started making things harder on the creators towards the end even though it was arguably at the height of it's popularity. Doesn't really effect the show but could be a reason for them to say no if Nick says they want a third one.

Ive never fully seen korra but I dont think it is ever mentioned so its not a spoiler but I've always seen natural bending as being passed genetically some get the gene some don't. In the case of the avatar. I figured it as their homeland bending element is gained genetically and their other elements are gained through being so naturally spiritual somehow and can't be passed since most seemed to live out their lives in their home nation and in the last air bender you never seen a fire bender belonging to the earth or water nations which would be the case for all descendents of avatars.

So happy they decided to do Korra after all. It is fitting too. Around a year ago they started doing Avatar and now they are doing Korra. I loved both series. Korra wasn't perfect, but I felt a lot of it problems were because Nick didn't order it as a whole series at first and they couldn't sit out and plan as a whole like they did with Avatar. Even stil it was a great series.

Right so I've worked it out, and if Blind Wave keep to 1 vid a week, every week, including the 2 episodes we already have, we will completely finish Legend of Korra on April 28th 2018... It's gunna be a long road guys!

kya and hakoda were both nonbenders and katara was a waterbender, so yes, two nonbenders can have a bending child. i would assume that it would be a rare thing though

I kinda related genetics of bending to that of Harry Potter. A witch or wizard can be born of two muggle parents, a muggle parent and a magical parent, or two magical parents. Also, just as a non-magical child can be born to two magical parents.

Hey Blind Wave! So I wanted to put this out to clear the air. The series, both Avatar and Korra, never explicitly explains the choosing of the elements in a person. However in one of the many books marketed to kids for Avatar (book adaptation of Sozin's Comet), there was an exclusive interview with "Bryke" (Mike and Bryan the creators). One of the questions was, in short, if Aang and Katara had a kid, what would they be as benders? Taken from the book, Mike says, "[T]heir kids could be born a Waterbender, Airbender, or a nonbender. But they definitely would not have the ability to command all four. Only the Avatar can control all four elements." It is also stated in one of the Lost Scrolls of Air, the Air Nomads were the only nation to have every person be a bender unlike the other nations who had only a select few. The reason why was never explained. My guess is that it is more about the spiritual aspect more than the genetic, though that may still play a part.

Hello people new person here. Because my adhd does not give me the ability of impulse control, I caved and signed up as soon as I saw you start Korra. Been watching you guys a long time now and just wanted to say thanks for what you do, even though it is a pretty simple thing. Can't wait to spend the next almost year watching this with you.

Also, if you think about it, 70 years before the 1920s would be the 1850s, so that's a reasonable amount of time to go from dirigibles and coal-fired steam-powered ships to cars and electricity.

The creators, Mike and Bryan, have said that they need a very long break from animation as it was extremely tiring and that they feel they have pushed the absolute limits in animation for TV and feel that maybe in a long while they can come back and do another series. They already have their own projects now with Mike having released a book and Bryan about to release a graphic novel I believe that is called thread worlds. Also, a good way to look at Korra compared to Avatar is that Avatar's main focus was on defeating the Firelord where as Korra's main focus is on her spiritual journey and growth. Both have that but Korra's is a lot more personal and is the main driving force behind the series.

I wanted to make this comment from the first ep since y'all were talking about it: The coolest part about them being in a more technologically advanced world is it pretty much reflects based on times of war. Before ATLA there was generally peace due to the avatar which stopped technological advancement. And now in the 70 years after a 100 year war it's like a renaissance period - a time of technological advancement. Hence, cars and microphones now being public/common tech.
