Catching up with Code Geass reactions time! While I will personally mourn the loss of OP1, I'm glad you guys liked the second one. I'm also glad how this show has grown on you all. I wholeheartedly agree that the show has pacing issues, and weird editing occasionally, but I'm really glad the show itself is starting to improve on that, and that you guys are enjoying it more and more - though I think the reactions up until this point have been great (surprisingly, I still think the cat episode was a highlight, because that just made me laugh so much). Also, just have to mention, this episode features one of my favourite songs from the OST - stories. Happy that you commented on the music. While I will always be the first to say how annoyed I am that Lelouch and Light always are said to be "so similar", I really think your discussions about it does it justice - and you highlight their differences very well. Lelouch almost-breakdown in the beginning of this episode always gets to me, but I think this is definitely an episode where the pacing and editing serves the story really well, especially in those scenes, to give the viewer sympathy for Lelouch, while also explaining why he'll keep doing these things (and worse, as we see with the JLF). Your discussion about the different approaches Suzaku and Lelouch have are also great - and again, obviously after an episode that highlights it very well, with Suzaku being opposed to kill but serving a regime that does, and Lelouch choosing to kill to bring that regime down. Good to be caught up again, and looking forward to proceeding.

I haven't watched code geass in entirety it's a shame of mine despite owning it & starting the series but I had maybe hoped to save it on the silly off chance I started reacting (don't even know what to start with for reaction cameras) I'd wanted to focus on Gundam since for whatever reason I've always been fascinated but the concept of giant robots

I am really surprised you liked the new intro, most people really hate it, mainly cause they feel the first was perfect for the show. I think a lot of fans actually consider this to be the worst one the show ever got. People love Mosaic as the outro thought.

As I said before I have been following along and this the first episode to be strong in my opinion. There's been other decent ones and even one with strong ideas but the first to take the ideas and execute them in a compelling way rather than having to be indulgent to truly appreciate. You see the weight of Zero's responsibility finally hit him, you see Shirley sort of become irresponsive and lose touch in a deliberate way from the writers rather than lack of finess. You can enjoy the revisiting of their motivation both Collen and Zero has. And the ending is really strong and brings an interesting conflict by actually acknowledging how much Shirley is hurting is hurting from losing her father but at the same valuing Lelouch friendship. I look forward to the next episode in a way I hadn't before. Also that new opening I hate.

At the start you talked about Shirley's dad being part of the scientists that were working on C.C but that's false. He was just an ordinary dude who happened to be in the city when the landslide hit.
