The bag was in fact censorship. In the manga and the 1999 anime Killua was just holding a beating heart. There will be less censorship further in, but the 2011 series doesn't really get as dark as the 1999/manga until after it overtakes where the 1999 left off.

I think it might be the only censorship I've ever liked even better than the original material; it's such a Killua thing to do, to brutally murder this asshole and then proceed to joke around like nothing happened by putting it back in his hand, it somehow managed to show his character even better than the original, and to think that they had to come up with that to censor it... Job really well done.

***Continuing Spoiler discussion*** Well the Butlers are powerful in their own right, even compared to Professionals. She is only an apprentice and young; but she's at least a bit above a normal professional. It's also not always a question of strength in HunterxHunter.

Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing. At this point in the show, we have not seen either of them struggle with anything. Or seen either of them really even have to try (Hisoka against the hunter, would be the closest thing to "trying" we've seen at this point.) So it's really not obvious one way or the other who would come out on top, and it's natural for people to lean more towards their favorite character in those situations.
And Killua wanting to get further from Hisoka, isn't necessarily an indication that Killua thinks he's stronger, just that he could cause trouble for them. He could sense that something was going to happen between Hisoka and the other applicants, and simply wanted to avoid it and focus on the task, especially since in that task, keeping an eye on the examiner was important, even if he could kill Hisoka easily, he still wouldn't want to waste time with it, and risk losing track of Sotaz.

While I'm typically not a fan of censorship, I think I actually prefer this version more then the manga, as I love the way He gives the heart back. I think it's a great way to contrast his sinister assassin side, with his playful childlike side.

*Spoilers for the next arc* I mean, fair point, and Hisoka is very powerful, but Canary defeats a pro hunter with ease as well, and I don't think anyone is gonna argue that she's nearly as powerful as Hisoka. It's not as impressive as your comment makes it seem, and I don't think it gives any "hints" to how powerful Hisoka is.

"NO SPOILERS" Don't forget guys, the man Hisoka killed was a profesional hunter and he was playing with him. That gives you a hint on where he is power wise.

They both have been killing people effortlessly. Hisoka caught 2 knives. KIllua ripped a man heart with him not noticing. Also Killua is modified for killing and trained by assasin. It's not that surprising that someone could pick Killua. At least at this point.

What?? That rando was a professional Hunter. Also, Killua himself stated earlier in the arc that it is best to avoid Hisoka; so he understands that Hisoka is stronger. We've also got hints from the examiners on the airship that Hisoka is clearly the strongest and most dangerous person there.
2019-04-20 17:40:14 +0000 UTC
Didn't we just see Hisoka get sliced up by some rando before working out how to kill him? And here, Hisoka just removes a dude's heart in an instant.
The combination of those two scenes implies that Killua could instantly kill Hisoka. Killua was also not present when Hisoka was wrecking Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika.
Narratively, it could easily seem like Killua is being set up as the true Big Bad of the show, with Hisoka just being a red herring or "mini boss".
Don't bite someone's head off for not already knowing the entire story.

It’ll be interesting to see how their opinions on strength/power change throughout the series. Especially when they meet the Phantom Troupe and the hunters from the CA arc.

It´s not like they have seen Killua´s true extent of abilities either. Or even know what abilities there are. So it is kinda hard to judge how they compare to each other at this point. And Killua´s abilities would be more fresh in their memory then Hisoka´s.

Well said. Full agree. I just see it as watching one of the MC do a couple cool tricks within the first few eps and then believing he can take on the strongest characters there are instantly that early on in the story.

I think in general a lot of people overestimate Killua in this arc and it's not the first time I've seen someone make that comment. So while it's still unreasonable to think he could confidently take on Hisoka, at this point it's somewhat understandable to think he might have a chance. But also knowing that Killua wanted to be further away from Hisoka in the swamp should say something lol.

Not a true knock on calvin, but wheres his basis for thinking killua could take hisoka on with that much confidence? Acted like it was a given even tho we’ve literally haven’t even seen hisoka’s true ability yet.
