Yeah I agree with you wholeheartedly. Everyone likes to forget all the awesome scenes of Matt Smith and the fact that he could command a room just by lowering his voice and letting his mouth run a marathon. I like this countering other doctors shouting to intimidate. This make sure that when he does yell it is to greater effect.

I also loved how alien and different Matt Smith’s Doctor was. I totally got the sense that he wasn’t a normal human. He had this gravitas to him.

**Not a spoiler** just an FYI Generally when The Doctor comments on something new like kidneys, tardis, apartments followed by "I don't like it.." It's a call back to Patrick Troughton's version of the Doctor. It was his catch phrase "oooh you redecorated.. I don't like it." Much like "fantastic", "allons-y", and "Geronimo"

Matt Smith was my introduction to Doctor Who. His story arcs and acting as the Doctor is on point. His regeneration is definitely my favorite. I feel his doctor is the best of portraying a sorrowful older doctor in a young mans body, moreso than even Tennant. Too bad he is lost to the enormous love of his predecessor. Definitely one of the most under appreciated Doctors. Can’t wait for Capaldi reaction which I know is going to be amazing. His doctor is one of the definitive doctors along with Baker.

Thanks for using a different source for the episode. This is the first Christmas episode that has been in sync for me. I never have any issues with the normal episodes.

I was just about to write that and now I don't, if I could just add this tid bit to the end of their conversation. Trenzalore was the only place the TimeLords where trying to come through. The other Cracks in time were due to the interference of the "Madam Kovarian" chapter, that made River kill the Doctor at Slencio Lake. Jeanette did the heabvy lifting and I still wrote a thesis.......sorry

About the truth field - Calvin's right for once. The Doctor did state that the Time Lords were both taking advantage of the cracks to broadcast the message and were also projecting the truth field with it

It’s fun seeing you all enjoy this episode so much, as I admit I really was disappointed when it first aired. I just felt it was a rushed way to try & tie so many strands up & Matt deserved a better end story, although his final scene here is heartbreaking. Personally I like Capaldi. His relationship with Clara is different but lovely & overall I enjoy his run. Looking forward to seeing you watch it!

For those with syncing issues, this isn’t on blind waves end, the problem is the available free online recordings are sped up faster than the actual show, but not by an amount that you can use in built playback speed changes to fix, for those that want to watch full length with their own background screen you are most likely gong to have to watch it via Amazon (or Stan in Australia (or Amazon again but I used Stan)

Funny story about Matt Smith's baldness, he shaved his head for a film that didn't get a lot of attention. Amy Pond in this scene is also wearing a wig because she shaved her head for Guardians Of The Galaxy at around this time, so in that scene with both of them they're both bald.

Finally, 12 is here. S8 is my favorite. I think only 1 or 2 skippable episodes, but even one of those had a decidedly non-skippable ending (talking about Kill The Moon scene, on of my favorite moments). Hope they're up for much more dramatic, layered, and complex character moments than they are used to! 12/Clara are magic together.

Mystified at people who always want there to be a golden age in Doctor Who, Yeah Capaldi has some stinkers, but so did fan-favourite Tennant, in fact the opening halves of S3 and S4 are pretty terrible.

*spoilers* This is my opinion of course but "deep breath", "into the dalek", "listen", "time heist" , "mummy on the orient express " , "flat line", "dark water/ death in heaven" greatly disagree with your assessment and that's just series 8, but as i say that's just my opinion.

From this point on the doctor who that is the majority of the time really good will turn into the minority of the time good sometimes ok but mostly mediocre to bad so get ready try to enjoy and wait for a bit it picks up a little bit down the line but I guess strap in it will be interesting.

Agreed. During S7B, Clara was a pretty lacklustre character for me. She was fun and gorgeous and had good chemistry with Matt Smith, but in S8 she really grew to be one of my favourite companions.

Totally agree! Peter is my favorite Doctor and mainly just because of him and his performance. Some of his episodes are not great, that is just sad true, but man... he was always able to make even the worst episode enjoyable! I love every Doctor, but for me, he is just on another level.

one thing that I thought was good coming back was the song from the rings of Akhaten. I remember hearing it and thinking, "yep, this is what the doctor will regenerate to".

Glad you all liked this episode. :) The Eleventh Doctor's regeneration scene is always really sad no matter how many times I see it. Looking forward to your reactions to the Twelfth Doctor. Also in the same year Peter Capaldi went from playing a W.H.O doctor in World War Z to The Doctor in Doctor Who.

I’ve got to say, on my rewatch of all new Who, Capaldi might have become my favourite. Some of the stories aren’t as good as the previous iterations, but his acting and style is above the others in my opinion. All shown in maybe the best Doctor Who episode ever, Heaven Sent.

I think Eric is going to enjoy the many eyebrow references that are about to come. Really excited for Capaldi, it's true that Clara and 11's chemistry is great but she really comes into her own with 12 in my book.

Now we’re in the Capaldi era, I can’t wait until Heaven Sent.

FL was out of sync like crazy this time. I don't have a place to watch doctor who ''leagally'' in sweden and the blu ray versions have worked great for me. Hope you change it back or I can get Dr who at some point here. I was really exicted to see your FL reactions to this too.

Poor Matt. Spending his last episode as the Doctor shooting regeneration energy out of his hands to kill Daleks like the Doctor is now some really weird, fleshy, grey-haired version of Iron Man. At least the Master had the excuse that he was literally broken by the explosion.

You may have then missed out on some of the best stories in NuWho. Heaven Sent, World Enough and Time, The Doctor Falls, and Twice Upon a Time are easily some of the best written, directed and acted episodes of Doctor Who. His first season is fairly mediocre though. Agreed.

Would love a reaction to Malcolm Tucker IS Doctor Who...all the f-bombs.

I think Peter Capaldi is a great actor, but I never really connected with his doctor. He had a great character arc and the War speech is iconic, but I just wasn’t emotionally invested in him. I think it’s because of the writing and partially because of his companions. Anyway, Matt Smith’s regeneration destroyed me ;( I was so sad.

Handles's death was the saddest in Doctor Who, he was one of the Doctor's longest running companion. 300 years he was with the Doctor, the only other living thing that's been with him longer in the TARDIS

This is pretty much where Doctor Who stopped for me, couldn't stand capaldi, not his fault, terrible writing mainly, at least until towards the end. None the less a lot of people seemed to like him so hopefully you guys will.
