Well, I think that you don't have to be a military genius to realise that charging cavalry alone into an horde of undead enemy that outnumbers you is not a good idea. Especially when they can just raise them and add them to their army. Neither is putting your trebuches in front of your infantry, and your infantry in front of your trench. I think the episode was just more focused on cool visuals because that's what most people pay attention to.

As a fan of the modern fantasy genre who has read all the books: no... Martin has always been more interested in the characters than any strategy. In fact, I'm undr the impression that most characters that could have devised a proper, clever strategy are all dead at this point and the kids had to take over with little to none prior experience. But then again, I hated reading those books and don't remember them that well.

Jon uniting all those people is the exact reason the Night's King was able to enter Westeros to begin with. Had he stayed dead Daenerys would have never flown her Dragons beyond the Wall and the stories of the Dead would have remained just that. Stories from the Nights Watch members who appear to only want to get out of their duties.

Well Eric is a bigger fan. He cares more so it makes sense shitty things would affect him more

She mentioned so when they were enemy forces trying to destroy her kingdom not when they were innocent and under her rule. But I agree Eric is trying to lead him a bit. Similarily he seemed to have more problem with this episode than Rick. It's why I think their discussion will be an interesting one. If Rick disagree of course. They both have strong personality in terms of saying their true opinion and not caving just to move things along.

I had my issues with this episode. But it's still amazing. And Arya killing the Night King was awesome. I never wanted it to be Jon. Love Jon. But I didn't want it to be him. I was actually hoping it would be Jaime. Killing kings is sort of his thing.

All of those people would never have even been there were it not for Jon, that's what he was supposed to do and did, bring people together.

What's there to explain?

Rhinehold

It's interesting to see Eric be more critical than Rick. Like on the survival of characters. It's always interesting to get Rick's perspective on those stuff.

Doby Greg

Eh, he didn't die to the sneak attack. He turned around and caught her midair by the neck. She killed him with dexterity!

Corey Hughes

They had to kill Melisendre without another word because otherwise they'd have to either explain the whole "prince that was promised" thing, or just conspicuously ignore it.

Liesmith

I still dont mind arya getting the kill, just again, terrible way to do it. Could list off so many better ways to have arya kill him without making other characters useless and the to diminish the night king to a sneak attack kill. Insulting really.

Rick gets Dany, despite Eric's attempts at leading the witness.. "Her blood is screaming burn burn burn but the people around are her center"... And what happens when the people around her betray and fail her? The bell perfectly and literally represents Tyrions last advice "respect the retreat" and when it ring, she's weighs all the betrayal, failed advice and personal losses as a result of the failed advice, and she listens to her blood... And I can't not bring this up when people bring up Astapor to paint her as this great breaker of chains and defender of woman and children... Further on down her character path, when she returns to Mereen, she's ready to "return cities to dirt", how would woman, children and her slave friends fair then... You cant pick and choose only character moments that only fit your narrative.

It wasn't working on mobile but was on web! I sent myself the youtube link to my phone and now I'm listening to the discussion in my car. It's possible!

Miss Timi Fantastico

If I try to play this on mobile it says unavailable, but if I quickly press play and then the YouTube title it lets me open in the app.

Mr Gadd

Eric in the after episode discussion prepping Rick for the Dany character assassination of episode 5, haha.

Erich Bomke

Game of Thrones vs ASOIAF is the tv show vs the books. I'm betting that in the books, King's Landing et al will be done before the Night King is resolved.

Bekah

my main issue of plot armour is the build up from the last episode the characters that were focused on for emotional weight into this one had the biggest plot armour and if they didn't it would have had more impact on their deaths

Visp

The only thing I've heard that explains what Bran did was: he was keeping track of the where all the players on the battlefield were. Because of this, he knew Arya was close by and he needed to prolong time to allow her to get there. Which is why he let Theon do what he did. Even still, if he can't see the future, why would that matter? Still confusing!

RationallySassy

This watch through is much more enjoyable with just Erick nd Rick than the whole crew more deep convos

Anthony Lujan

Who has a better story than Sam the Liability?

Erich Bomke

Works perfectly fine for me.

Raul Martinez

In regards to Bran seeing the future, he also saw the Wildfire Explosion in King's Landing caused by Cersei.
