Borough Bound FAQ

Hey y'all! We've had an influx of new patrons recently (hello!), so we figured now was a good time to compile some  frequently asked questions. As always, if you have any questions or concerns about BB content, please feel free to reach out here, on Discord, or by email.

Q: Wait... I'm overwhelmed. What am I supposed to download?

A: It really depends! Our typical releases include zip files that are tied to your patronage tier, but we also release "Definitive Edition" versions of the cities. The individual zips include most of the content (separate map sections, borough guide chapters, music, bonus content, homebrew, etc), but the Definitive Edition adds in full sized maps (i.e. all of the map sections stitched together) as well as the edited and full borough guide for the entire city. This means that there is some content that you can only get via the individual zips, and some that you can only get via the "full city" links. If you just want the big maps or big PDFs, you can nab those from the Definitive Edition posts.

Q: I’m a streamer and/or podcaster! Can I use Borough Bound maps, tokens, and music on my stream?

A: You can use as much Borough Bound content as you want for any RPG video, stream, or podcast so long as 1. you’re subscribed to our Patreon, 2. you drop a link to our Patreon in your video/podcast/stream description, and 3. you give us the occasional on-air shout out.

Q: Can I include Borough Bound assets in a commercial product?

A: Probably not, but let us know what you have in mind. If you want to use our maps in a tabletop module or something similar, we may allow you to do so with a watermarked version of the map, but you have to reach out to us first. Using any of our assets for video games is strictly forbidden.

Q: Is your content available anywhere other than Patreon?

A: Yes! You can find our music wherever you stream (just search “Borough Bound”), and our maps will be gradually rolling out on Roll20 (released a bit later than on Patreon). We will also gradually release all of our content on Alchemy.

Q: I’m having trouble with the Foundry modules. How do I get these to work?

A: Virtual tabletops can be complicated. You should come hang out on our Discord server and ask for help there! We have a dedicated VTT help channel for this very purpose. If you’re a patron, you’ll automatically be added to our server if you log into Discord through Patreon.

Q: Any chance of physical media in the future?

A: We will certainly publish a book and some maps at some point, and if there’s adequate demand, we may do a physical release of some music as well.

Q: Will you return to Kadhizi or Ancora Bay and retrofit them with interiors and bonus content?

A: Maybe! Our team was still growing when we were working on our earlier boroughs. We may still return to them at some point. If that’s something you’d be interested in, be sure to let us know!

Q: I’m having trouble keeping track of all of the content! Where do I find everything?

A: When in doubt, check the Guidebook Archive. You’ll find links to each post, each city, the “master posts” for all of the different tiers, and any additional content. Our website also has some really nice overviews of each of our borughs.

You might also want to check the music spreadsheet which lists every track we’ve released along with relevant tags.

Q: I'm waiting for [piece of content]. When are you going to release [piece of content]?

A: Probably soon! We don't forget or abandon projects. The Definitive Edition versions of the cities usually take quite some time to complete, so please be patient. Usually we get those done around one moth after the final release of a borough.
