Patreon Preview - How Accessible Were This Year's Games?
Added 2019-11-21 11:52:26 +0000 UTCHello!
So, a few weeks back I had this silly idea to make a video looking at the accessibility options in this year's biggest games. I wanted to make a follow up to Designing for Disability, basically, looking at the strides the industry has made in 2019.
It turned into a pretty huge project! I ended up getting and playing 50 games, from Death Stranding to Untitled Goose Game to Pokemon Sword to FIFA 20. And this is what I've found out.
Hope you find it interesting. I certainly did. Cheers!

2019-11-22 17:12:16 +0000 UTCThanks for the video Mark and especially thank you for keeping on producing videos on accessiblity - even when they do worse view-wise than other topics. I'm glad my patreon-bucks can be used for and help fund the creation of "less financially viable" videos.

2019-11-22 07:57:28 +0000 UTCI don't play sports games but am kinda shocked that FIFA doesn't have the commentators subtitled , i feel like that use to be at least a basic option in most sports games

2019-11-22 06:00:29 +0000 UTCI dont think this is a silly idea, because as you said, video games are for everyone. This is so because "in these days" the society in totality accept video games as a form of entertainment. So the topic of accessibility options (what went right and wrong) is important for the game industry, because people with disabilty are part of the society.

2019-11-21 19:25:38 +0000 UTCGreat video, I always love to see you go back to this topic. And I have too say, I think that even with all you pointed out you still were too kind to Death Stranding. As much as I'm loving the game, the font size is one of the biggest accesibility disasters I've seen this year. If you're even remotly intrested in the world of the game, you have to spend hours reading articles written in a 10pt font. I don't understand how that got made without the option to scale the font size.
2019-11-21 15:15:22 +0000 UTCGreetings It would be welcome if you add this video into your youtube accessibility playlist. Sometimes I share it with colleagues and they like it as well. We are engineers with web accessibility context, not videogames, but it is still nice
2019-11-21 14:59:01 +0000 UTCThis is a great video, and super useful as a library of clever solutions to difficulties around accessibility. Great job as always!
