Finding the Fun in FPS Campaigns | Game Maker's Toolkit

I wanted to talk about two awesome FPS games, and how they focused on fun gameplay above anything else.

Okay, I think I can put 2016 to rest now. Got some nostalgic stuff coming up in February. Will keep you posted.

Mark, really liked this episode, but *pleease* make a pause at the end before talking about Patreon stuff. At 11:00, "...that first-person shooters can be FUNThanks for watching! Gamemaker's Toolkit etc. etc". Just leave a few seconds of silence, give the audience a chance to process what has been said. Right now the transition is quite jarring after a really good ending.

I have not! I got a few comments about it so I will add it to the list

Have you played Devil Daggers?

Mr Wendal

In the future, yeah. It's a whole 'nother thing though, with its own design, own history, etc. Lots of research needed!

Hey Mark, have you considered doing a video on competitive games? thought of it in this video particularly since it feels like titanfall 2 couldnt make as many changes due to some of those mechanics not really working in a competitive environment. I also just think competitive games would make a fun subject. Great video!

Great video, Mark. I thought your "counterargument" section of this video was really strong. People may disagree with your opinion, but you addressed all the concerns, like the repetitive Doom combat cycles, lack of wallrunning combat, etc., that we may have had with the games. As a viewer, I'm left with a strong idea about what makes these games great and why they should be emulated (no pun intended, or maybe yes, intended).

Great as always Mark. Thank you!

Interesting video, I actually thought doom's campaign was a lot better than Titanfall 2. Titanfall does have great level design and pace but I just found myself at the end wishing there was a little more. Especially titan fight and shooting while wall running both of which are essential in the multiplayer.

Excellent video Mark! The FPS genre really needed new and interesting ideas, and these games definitely added interesting mechanics and engaging level design. I look forward to see your future content.

Great video as always, and sincere thanks for including my analysis article on Doom in the YouTube description!
