One piece 3 part VERY special eps. 481/482/483 | WE ARE BROKEN!

Comments

amazing pick for intro song for these episodes

SoySauce

All that no one dies in One Piece was build up to this. It was intentional. Oda.

Dereshishishi

Thank you so much Joanna! That is very sweet! Obviously we didn’t see those episodes coming 💔💔🤯🤯 we were pretty shook for a couple days Then Oda turns around and hits us with Sabo. 😢😢 We can’t wait to see where the journey goes from here!?!? Sending you lots of love ❤️❤️🤗🤗

Jason DeVan

Hey, Kenshin! We remember ☺️☺️ thanks for not giving anything away! And thank you for being on the live YouTube on Friday! We appreciate you!❤️❤️

Jason DeVan

When we all as a community started this journey with you as a whole, an din the beginning there was a comment from you. Where there was a possible wager on when Jason would cry. I gave you I want to say I was the first to give you a list of Arcs when that might happened. I was hopping that I wouldn't get shunned from the community because of what some of us know since we've already seen most of OP. I Kenshin Himura said Maniford would be 1 of the Arcs becuase of Ace's death, but I didn't say anything obviously I didn't want to spoil it for you, but yeah these episode will always be hard to watch.

Kenshin Himura

These episodes! omg no matter how many times I've watched this arc I still cry so hard, like heather I'm bawling my eyes out. This doesn't just hurt this goes for the jugular and doesn't pull any punches. Our hearts are hurting. I'm never okay when I watch these episodes, sending so so so many hugs and love to you both. All these emotions you're going through are 100% valid and completely understandable. On another note I know by the time I watch this you will be ahead of me but I just wanted to check in with you both to see if you're okay? Like I said above these episodes hit really hard and we all go through shock at this moment. I just wanted to make sure that you're okay? And if you need to take time to decompress everything that's happened? We all love you both and want to make sure your in the right headspace? Sending love and light to you both. xoxo

PegasusDragon

Stay positive Reagan! The mind controls more than you know!😎 we missed you yesterday ❤️❤️

Jason DeVan

🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️ thank you Shanks

Jason DeVan

Long live the shirohige pirates

Ben

I'm little late but I got emotional again just seeing the happy go luffy break down so bad.

MikeMastermind

take your time to process

SwagUWUGod42069

I don't usually comment a lot - mostly because I get so busy I tend to binge-watch your reactions in groupings to catch up - but I had to reach out to let you know I also had a similar reaction to this development. I cried buckets and was also in denial while simultaneously swearing at Oda for this pain - your feelings are completely valid. Looking back there was some foreshadowing about Luffy not being ready for this level and about Ace's death but Oda masterfully distracts you and instills the belief that Luffy can do it. Luffy does save Ace but cannot ultimately stop his death because Ace reacts, in keeping with his character, to Akainu's (Sakazuki) baiting and manipulation. This is a defining moment in One Piece and though you may be upset with us for not warning you, please know that you will understand with time why we did not spoil.

Rachel G

not even his editors saw this coming, btw oda had plans to kill ace since his first appearance

Kenji

at the end of the day its just an anime, i see it more like ben beckmann, ace was never him 🤷‍♂️

Kenji

W juice

Kenji

Its like when you think nobody dies in one piece, this happens... thids is one of those when oda throws curve baĺls moment that brought up alot of emotions in alot of us one piece fans. This is one of those amazing episodes that you cant help to hate in my opinion.

Nesz Vids (Eric Perez)

Sending hugs & love💕 cuz this is a difficult moment in OP. Since characters seldom die in the story, the impact of losing Ace is enormous. It’s as traumatic for the audience as it is for Luffy. And watching how it’s impacted you both is heavy on our hearts!! Your nakama are here to support you!!

storitella

The ugly cry is a statement Oda has made many times before (see Robin or Chopper). In real life we don't cry pretty...

Lucia Petrozzi

You have to remember now that this is another loss to Luffy! He couldn't protect his friends, he could not save Ace from Impel Down, and now this. Luffy needs all the support he can get now more than ever. The aftermath to the war always gets me choked up a little and I'll leave it at that. There will be a light at the end of this.

KnoseTrain35

I don't love Ace as much as everyone else, but no matter how many times you watch this series through, Ace's death still breaks you... The scene of Luffy just broken and mourning just lives in your mind, the way his head falls back and cries with his mouth so wide open should look unrealistic. But that image looks so real to me, the way Oda portrays emotion is incredible. Most of Oda's art looks nothing like real life, but the emotion always looks believable. Oda lets emotion look real and ugly. It feels so much more painful because the image of Luffy's pain looks right and it imprints on your mind.

Fold

Honestly the anime dragged the scene out way too long. The manga hit so much harder because of the pacing and succinct for this scene. The translation got lost somehow.

Basset June

I agree and I love that they let Ace die. I'm tired of people in television dying and being revived constantly, it's also why I despise the multiverse theory. The multiverse cheapens life, death, and choice. It removes the meaning of the story entirely, after all the story doesn't matter if everything good, bad, and otherwise is happening regardless of your actions.

Fold

I always smile and laugh evilly, when people say that.

Fold

I want the days when no one died to come back! Even though I wouldn't change the story for the world!

Fold

Its the same feeling I had when the first time Ive watched it years ago. I couldnt believe what had happened to one of my favorite character in One Piece. Ive forgotten that Ace mentioned Sabo in that sad moment.

RiseAndShine00

Someone made me notice this comment goes into spoiler territory. Please delete.

Lucia Petrozzi

Jason Mejia

Yeah and I was shouting at the screen: Jason the necklace on the hat! 😅

Al_es_sandro

I couldn’t agree more. I am also happy destiny got us to meet. Thank you so much for this family. And yes Reagan, we did it. We saved Ace 🥹

Al_es_sandro

Heather you are so right about that comment. Ace had the king of the pirates as his father. Instead of living his life honoring his father, he spent most of it resenting him. How ironic because his brother Luffy idolizes roger the most. It truly breaks my heart because everything that Ace knew about his father were all blatant lies. Not a single person in his life had good things to say about roger while growing up, that must’ve stick to him. I really think that Ace and Roger would have gotten along so well as father and son if only they met in their lifetime.

Alisson

Isn't it amazing that a story that's so much about hope and joy, that always brings us to such cathartic moments, can strip all of it out of us in a way that even stories that focus on such sadness can't even achieve. The gut punch those last two episodes bring is unforgettable I feel bad the week is ending here for you and you aren't watching more.

Christopher LoBosco Jr.

When people says Oda never kills anyone, I yell. LIARS knowing what I know with my broken heart!!

EgregiousGrievous

Guys, this is not Marvel or DC, no multiverse to bring back fallen heroes, its real and life. Its hard but we all move forward and grow stronger from our experiences, Oda delivered and you have to love his story telling. Life gets harder and better and harder, you grow as you live!

EgregiousGrievous

Yes I always thought he didn't use his logia power since it would have passed through him hitting Luffy, so he used his real body to stop the lava punch. Ace really loved his brother to the end!

EgregiousGrievous

And this whole saga started with Luffy losing his crew on Sabaody. He has been through a lot 😭🔥

SomeoneElse

Damn we saw J reach denial, anger and bargaining in record time lmao, imagine us who were reading week to week we were the exact same way

mork

Yea, i knew what i was doing.

Juice DaNinja

Jason has the necklace too, it came with the hat.

Juice DaNinja

By the way, those red balls were beads from aces necklace!

Ian

DREAMS NEVER DIE!!! From now on Death is on the table. How does that make you feel going forward?

Cutler

It's the most sad moment i ever watched in anime it stills gets me to tears now even if i watched it many times. And the why Akainu hits Ace and not go throw as it happens with Logia devil fruits it's because if the punch goes trhow Ace it would have hit Luffy so Ace choses to stop it with his normal body and not let it pass with his Logia ability...

LordCartanya

I just finished watching this drop. I have no words for you guys and I feel sick to my stomach too that you had to go through it, watching you hold hope until the last minute like we all did the first time we watched it unfold under our eyes. Even to the point of wanting Moria to bring him back somehow. It's part of the journey and there will be light at the end of the tunnel. That's what OP is about. Ace understood his life was worth it, his birth brought happiness and love to many. And he smiled, just like his father did when he died. Hugs hugs hugs to you both. We love you soooo much! ❤️🫂

Lucia Petrozzi

IMO Oda had to do it, everyone thought no one dies in OP but I believe Oda had to do it for a reason, Luffy suffers a real big loss as a young man and it forces him to grow. This is what Luffy needed and what the story needed to move forward.

EgregiousGrievous

Very well-said, and you truly comprehend the story and understand Ace. I love to hear the wise word.

theshittycook

Thank you, as always, for sharing these moments with us. I’m so glad that I found your YouTube channel when you started the Live Action forever ago, and eventually really became a part of your community. So.. We had Amazon Lily, all of Impel Down and this entire arc to accomplish this goal. *So much* of the story dedicated to save Ace, and we did it, right?? Right? :’(

Reagan

Akairu, the most hateful and despicable person, embodies everything vile. His mind manipulation is detestable, his mental warfare is nothing short of monstrous. And he killed Ace. I will never forgive him.

theshittycook

Here it is the one thing everybody tries to keep quiet in terms of One Piece. Ace at Marineford is one of the most widely known spoilers as well ununfortunately. I'm glad it never got to you. But the next big one after Ace is gonna rock your whole world.

LoneCourier21

When I saw this week's calendar, I knew it would be a harsh and devastating week for you. It’s as if we know what fate has in store, yet we can’t even warn you, letting it unfold on its own. Even now, revisiting that scene still haunts me like no end and leaves me blawing my eyes. Imagine how long the pain we endured during those publishing days, waiting chapter by chapter with immeasurable anguish and uncertainty. Witnessing Luffy’s panic and despair was heartbreaking - anything but an understatement — I couldn’t even imagine how he would recover while the arc was still being published. "Gut-wrenching" and "soul-crushing" hardly capture the depth of that experience. To this day, I hate hearing fans complain that Oda never lets a character die. Because when he finally does, in the concurrent story timeline, you would be regretting the complaint, as if you didn’t know what you wished for. While it may not be true for everyone, I would rather wish to lessen the story's impact to keep everyone alive and give my Ace back.

theshittycook

“It’s easier to believe negatively than it is to believe positive, sometimes” -Heather This has been me. It seems impossible to believe positively recently.

Reagan

I need a drink, wise choice!

Mo za

Ace is still alive as Dr. Hiruluk said a man only dies when he is forgotten

Long Huynh

I cry every time I see this.

Cheddah Slammer

Yep Akainu, knew all the right buttons to press to goad Ace to attack.

Cheddah Slammer

Hi Heather and Jason, hope you are doing better. This is one of the most painful moment if not the most in one piece. I was dreading this moment, especially since Jason mentioned how much he loved Ace and we know how gentle of a spirit heather is. It took me years to really accept this. It might all seem pointless right know but eventually you will understand why this was necessary from the story/plot perspective. But without giving much away, there is a lesson in this which GODA sensei wanted to share and down the line you will be crying tries of joy instead. So just follow in this motto "IN ODA WE TRUST". Take care and have a good weekend

Shanks

It's been years and I'm still in denial

Jade

Just finished to watch it with Kenji. Was so real and the end was so intense. Your mood at the beginning and at the end of the 3 parter two worlds. H&J you are a beautiful family that loves each other. The same had Ace that is why he smiled after dying. Btw. Sorry but the sound was way better yesterday 🫠

Al_es_sandro

me watching your reaction have goosebumps all over.. it is hard for the community thinking how you guys will arrived at the end.

Kodo

There is this trope in anime where the main character gets into a super emotional moment either by having someone close to him killed or losing an important object for the story and what usually happens is that the protagonist gets angry and "wakes up" a "hidden power" or some sort of deus ex machina that fixes everything and gives us a happy ending... One Piece is my favorite because they did the opposite, when you loose something important in real life, you break... There's no hidden power, there's no miracle that will happen that will make everything be alright again, we break, and we fall to pieces, but what matters is what happens after, if we are able to gather our scattered parts, put ourselves back together and stand up again, then we become stronger. Feel what you need to feel nakamas, these episodes always break me. I love your reactions and the time you have invested in watching this story. P.S. I will never be mature enough to not laugh when I hear "baby dick" or "little dick" lol.

Potzi

Even we didn't get it that soon, the fact that it still hurts everyone to this day that we had to make a humorous mean meme out of it says alot about how popular Ace was as a character and how we needed something silly like that to take the edge off the reality on this predicament. It still hurts

AnimeTeeJay

Too soon lol

Potzi

Luffy still saved ace, that moment that made Ace turn back around was unavoidable considering what we saw in his backstory, and he didn't even know Gol Roger as a father, so of course Ace is gonna stay in his character and act like he always has.

AnimeTeeJay

No matter how many times this kills me. Ace crying and saying thank you for loving someone like him destroys me

Super Novice

I remember seeing this when it came out about 13 years ago and sitting there staring at the screen for about half an hour silently not wanting to accept it. To this day it’s still the anime death that gets me the most

Sean Bey0nd

Amen my friend! ❤️

Al_es_sandro

It really feels like we lost a family member. The one take away I have is Ace finally found peace before he died. And surely something will come out of this, Oda hasn't done anything without reason up to this point

Dylan Drozeski

Ace was my favorite character, but the thing that always impacts me here is what ace says, and I can’t help but feel it’s also directed at the audience too… “thank you for loving me”. And just as your emotions show, you did…we all did…and that’s all he wanted. Love you guys, love ace. Take care ❤️

Josh Stewart

No one can see this coming

Ming GAO

Yes but instead of dying because of an execution and chained, Ace died because he wanted to protect his brother. So it was his decision to do so. Totally different if he would have died with the execution. He also choses to fight Akainu even though he knew his Magma beats Fire. Because he chose to not let him say those things about his beloved father, the person who gave him the figure he didn’t have and everyone else was talking bad about ( Roger). It’s all about the person you choose to be.

Al_es_sandro

Yeh it happened to me as well 😌

Al_es_sandro

Ace realized his reason for being born was always there with him as he lived and died. Note: He also died a with a smile on his face. Seems all the people with the initial D. in their name smile as they move on.

Kseo Dilla

bruh

Kseo Dilla

😂 Give them at least 24h to digest I'd say

BashaM

Seen these episodes so many times, but never gets easier. Always tear up 😢... especially the part when Luffy cries ...always breaks ma heart. Praise to all the voice actors, they did so good to convey the emotion

Cats4Eva

Contrary to what some people say, didn’t Luffy truly succeed in his goal? His goal from the start was to free Ace from those handcuffs and get him away from the execution platform. He did that. What happened after was out of his control. There has also been some discourse about how stupid Ace was to listen to Akainu but don’t you guys think that what Ace did was just fitting for his character, he really is like that. He doesn’t let anyone talk shit about his loved ones. It was rooted from his childhood when everyone bad mouths his biological father. Anyhow, I find comfort in knowing that Ace knew and felt that he was loved before he died. It’s unfortunate that he realized it late but in the end he found the answer to question that’s been bothering him his whole life. He’s such a great character that’s been deeply understood until now ☹️

Alisson

Literally bawled for hours after watching this. It's so hard to watch the pain that Luffy is feeling. Especially with all that he went through to save Ace.

Jade

lol it was hard to watch you guys keep saying positive predictions knowing what was gonna happen in the end. It made me feel so bad to watch you guys get your hopes up. I personally couldn’t watch the episode when ace died because I knew I wouldn’t be able to take seeing Luffy cry.

Franina

The way i was in denial too when i first watched this episode and the next episodes just kept pushing away that smallest of hope away from me

Alisson

Can I finally share the Ace donut meme?

Alex S

Luffy has lost his crew, has gone through hell in prison, had his lifespan shortened twice, lost a dear friend, fought in a war bigger than him, fought his grandfather and lost his brother all within a week... And he is only 17. How do you think Luffy will be from now on?

BashaM

A pinnacle moment in one piece a death no one expected after he got freed literally a few episodes ago these episodes are some of the best in one piece and these episodes are highly anticipated for fans when reacting to others watching one piece. Still much more great episodes to come marineford has not ended yet!

usman

w community

jaro

Luffy was able to save his brother but he still died that's the worst part but also a testament that Luffy did succeed

Shane Burns

Only bc it’s so emotionally devastating we need a community to survive it 🤣😭❤️💔

victoria t

They are very cautious and at the same time D Clan are very protective. We talk about all spoilers on discord.

Regie Khemvisay

Especially the emotional damage it accompany lol

Regie Khemvisay

Oda built the belief in us that characters won't die. The meme always was Oda doesn't kill anyone. He even gave us a brief moment of happiness before he broke our hearts. I read long ago that his editor or people from his team begged Oda not to but he still did it. Oda is also like us in emotional scenes while he is drawing them he himself crys. Years ago I spoiled myself so I knew it was coming. I'd look at wiki because I was so curious what this or that means and I saw it I was like ah shit!

Jechtsphere

From the day I saw Jason wear that Ace hat I knew this part was gonna be rough

Sean Bey0nd

I’ll never forgive oda ever

victoria t

alr in denial it’s ok guys 😭 rip ace easily my favorite character in the series he will be missed

manny

The people have been highly anticipating this group of episodes.

Freshingredient

5th... i mean 6th lol

Nesz Vids (Eric Perez)

this moment is the most spoiled in one piece by far. im genuinely surprised you guys went spoiler free
