Luffy's backstory is my favourite even though it makes me cry so much. Sending so many hugs to you both these two weren't easy episodes.

2024-11-22 02:17:19 +0000 UTClate to the comment but I hate this theory (and was glad that this has been proven WRONG) Main reason: the "ASCE" tattoo was already there before he joined the Whitebeard Pirates. So the letter "E" as Edward would not make sense at all. the "S" on ace's tattoo being crossed out, SIMPLY stands for "Sabo", as a tribute to his fallen brother. Let us just keep it simple this way and because this is the one that makes most sense.

What a feat of writing I feel like I've seen soo many shows where before a character dies, they randomly start receiving more attention and the writers try to shove in some lines that makes you like them, and it's a dead giveaway every time that they are going to die in the next scene or something. I love that we get Ace's backstory AFTER his death here. His death was surprising and it allows for even more emotional damage to be packed on afterward, and Oda does it in a way that piles even more on top of it. If you didn't feel it before, you sure as heck feel it now ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ฏ

2024-10-29 01:57:39 +0000 UTCI'll be honest, I didn't really care for Ace as much as everyone else did. When I watched the first time I cried but it was more for Luffy, more so then the death of Ace. I cried more for the Sabo death, because they really establish him as a strong character. Things changed whenever I re-watch the series I cared for Ace, and its because of the context of this backstory. It really gives you a sense of how Ace, Sabo and Luffy are, and completely gives you different emotions on a re-watch.

He could have showed us Luffyโs childhood anytime in the past 500 eps, and he chose to do it after Aceโs death, because it hurts the most, because you watch these episodes with the knowledge that Ace dies. And since that knowledge is not painful enough, he shows us how Luffy had another brother who died too. You are a mean one, Mr Odaโฆbut we love you. Luffy saying โPlease, Ace donโt dieโ is like a stab in the heart. Also, seeing the relationship between Ace and Dadan now is heartbreaking. Ace mentioned her when he was dyingโฆasking Luffy to say Hi to her if he ever see her again in the future. Itโs bittersweet Ace was thinking of his foster mother when he was dying.

That makes it so heartbreaking. I cried at this scene hard too. How can you take everything away from luffy? :(. AND NO YOU CANT WATCH THE FAN LETTER ANIMATION. You can watch it after 525 i believe

Get plenty to drink before you start watching! ๐ But I must say, I noticed that huge, big moma bear smile across your face when you saw Dadan appear to save Ace from Bluejam! Same as mine! Only mums can understand to which lengths we can go to protect our kids! โค๏ธDadan best mum, Sabo and Ace, best brothers! This episode also reinforced the idea we got in Loguetown that Dragon has some sort of DF, possibly related to weather.

However, the last letter has been proved not to be an homage to WB as Ace already had the tattoo when he fought WB before joining his crew. The other theory is that he had his name spelled wrong and crossed the S.

2024-10-25 22:13:47 +0000 UTCthis arc came out of left field when I first watch it and this episode made me cry then and now. this back story explains why luffy said in episode 416 that Ace is his only brother in the entire world and he went from heaven to hell to save him even at the cause of his life. it also explains that Ace acknowledge that by becoming a pirate they would indeed be a enemy of Garp. the world nobles represent what happens when people acknowledge the bad in the world but do nothing about it because it doesn't affect them directly or they dont think anything they do can change it so they simply accept it as reality. that's why hate when i hear people say "that's just the kind of world we live in" as if its acceptable.

Ughhhh, we really didn't think he had a sibling before and we were okay with that, then to be introduced to Ace and then Sabo, And now they're both dead. Oda sensei is best in so many things, world building, character development, foreshadowing etc. But giving us emotional damage is definitely top tier talent. I definitely could relate so much with Sabo, having parents alive but feeling alone. Dad left when I was 4. And Mom worked overseas. We grew up with this evil stepgrandmother and our childhood was definitely hard. Then I could also relate to Luffy being joyful now regardless of the painful past. These episodes hit me hard coz it's so close to home. Sorry for over sharing! Lol great reaction as always. I'm not expecting Jason to cry anymore in this show because Heather sheds tears for both of them already. Love u guys! Can't wait for next week!
