I subscribed to Patreon to be able to stay updated, even though it was slightly above my financial abilities. It shows how much I like you - Jason and Heather - how unique you are with the habit of reading our comments regularly, staying engaged with your community, and with being genuine 100% of the time. I also loved your little comments from the moviemakers' perspective. SInce I had some time to catch up with newest updates, I've decided to finally comment on something and maybe leave some useful info for you. It was so enjoyable to watch how much you're enjoying yourself, haha 😂 1. Since I know Japanese a little bit and you guys are eager to learn, I will share some phrases or words that catch your attention or are important from now on. ~ kanpai (read exactly as spelled, so I guess it would be 'can-pa-ee' in english spelling) - means basically the same thing as 'cheers!', it's a word used to make a toast :) 2. Maybe you already know this but in many Asian countries, e.g. Japan, Korea or China, they write their names in different order (family name 1st + given name 2nd). But in the West it is common to reverse this order of asian names. Thus, we have Sung Jinwoo (Sung = family name, Jinwoo = his given name). But when his father (?) is introduced, they introduce him as Il-Hwan Sung. But because it was USA, they've put his given name first. In Korea he would introduce himself as Sung Il-Hwan and that makes it easier to catch that they have the same family name, thus might be a family. 3. You guys have missed it over being too hyped up (😂), but Jinwoo said he is not able to extract shadows from the demons in demon's castle. So he won't be adding them to his shadow army. 4. Heather was right that Jinah was only teasing Jinwoo in a way a family member would ('Oh~Where are you going? Maybe on a date...?'). She doesn't know Jinwoo and her friend are that familiar with each other. But Jason's interpretation was possible to make too, since the subtitles aren't that subtle and there is some language barrier there. But still Jinwoo wouldn't be interested in an underaged kid... 😂 5. Love how you guys catch small details in different characters behavior and assess their personality traits in a correct way. The show is fast-paced and what each side character brings in to the table can be easily overlooked. I won't write more since I've already written a mini-essay, my apologies. 😂 Also, English is not my 1-st language so I'm sorry if anything came out as weird.

It's in my top 5 right now, although admittedly, I had to finish it to get a full picture and assess it properly as S1 and S2 have completely different vibes. Btw, the English VA of the main character in Vinland Saga (Netflix Dub) is the same as Jinwoo and Zenitsu (Aleks Le, one of my favourite English VA)!

2025-04-10 07:27:02 +0000 UTCAt the end of episode 2 they were heading off to finish the 19 C rank dungeons that they started back in season 1. That’s why episode 3 started in a dungeon. It started so abruptly which is why it was a little confusing but don’t worry you guys didn’t miss anything. Also jinwoo took the mining job because there is a 3 day waiting period before his hunter’s license officially gets updated to S rank. That’s why in these episodes everyone is still calling him an E rank even though he got reevaluated.

2025-04-10 02:21:43 +0000 UTCThe interrogation between Hwang Dongsoo & Jinwoo’s dad had an extra layer of intensity in the manhwa. There was a big emphasis that Jinwoo’s dad was speaking Korean, & the Americans were freaked out to find a “human” in a dungeon. So, they were very anxious for Dongsoo’s return to the US to translate. The interrogation pits Dongsoo’s word vs Jinwoo’s dad to determine if he’s human or not—which Dongsoo happily uses to his advantage that no one else speaks Korean to convince the Americans he’s a monster as a means of revenge. I feel that the manipulation thru language barriers makes the act more malicious in its intent. The anime is giving us only lean & no fat!😭😂
