2025-06-09 23:54:40 +0000 UTCIt's cool to see that the same devil fruit won't be used the same ways, it makes the characters more unique. I can't point them all out, but there were some translation choices that weren't great. Like Sabo's last line said "Luffy is my brother to save" I believe the closer translation is "I will protect my brother/ Luffy". It doesn't matter a lot, but I think it change the context of Sabo's trust in Luffy. Save make me think Sabo doesn't trust him or believe succeed while protect makes me think he is watching out for Luffy's blindside. I feel that these minor changes weaken the emotional hit because it changes the context of characters actions.

He was relatable and enjoyable to see on screen but people treat him like he’s was the end all be all for luffy in terms of close relationships. People still act like this today, I never see people in the one piece community talk about Sabo like how they talk about ace. Sabo never even gets brought up as much as ace either. Which is crazy because Oda has definitely built up his character so well in the series. In fact I feel more connected to Sabo than I did ace. Not saying one is better than the other but Sabo just oozes so much brightness from his character.

Doflamingo and the whole Dressrosa arc have a strong Spanish influence, which is also reflected in the names of his top officers: Diamante, Trebol, Pica, and—previously—Corazon. As an Italian, I immediately recognized that these names correspond to the Spanish words for the four card suits: Diamonds, Clubs (or Clovers), Spades, and Hearts. But until now, we hadn’t heard anything about the "Hearts" officer, and I’d always wondered why that was. This episode finally starts to explain the mystery behind the missing fourth suit.

2025-05-01 23:24:40 +0000 UTCAt the time Sabo was revealed to be alive and got Ace's devil fruit, many people got their knickers in a twist and said he was just a substitute for Ace. There were a lot of discussions about it. I could not disagree more! Even though he obtained Ace's powers, Sabo always felt like his own character to me. I cannot draw the similarity between the two brothers if not only for the DF. They couldn't be more different! Plus, let's not forget that Sabo rose to be Chief of Staff of the Revolutionaries (second only to Dragon) without any DF! If anything, he overpowers Ace right now. And I love the story behind him, his courage and his belief in a fair and just world - he, who was a noble and could have had an easy life, chose to pursue justice instead. What a great guy!
