Love you all H & J

Comments

Isn't it amazing that the few small times we saw Dolfy was short and little tease we knew from his form bounty price "well geez he must have been strong". Then to Marineford and he was fighting but again doing the puppet thing he did at the Warlord council meeting! And that alone was scary, then move to Punk Hazard and Now here in Dressrosa Oda makes sure to really lay it all out that he's scary as hell and not just with manipulation of the countries people but the pure evilness that oozes from him is insane! And yeah if he wanted to he could take on the Admirals and probably win!

~ Bun-sensei's Japanese corner ~ ___________________________ Yeah... I will stick to the English pronunciation. It was just 'otoko' as you pronunced it at the very beginning. My explanation made it more complicated than instead of being useful lol. Word for today will be -please- since you asked for it~ Let's start with the fact that there is a few ways to say -please- in Japanese. 1. The most common and useful phrase is 'kudasai'. You either use it as a stand-alone word when asking somebody to give you something (A) or use it as an additive you add at the end of the verb to make a plea (B). The scheme would be: A. NOUN + wo + 'kudasai' [NOUN + γ‚’ + くだ さい] Example: Please, give me money. O-kane wo kudasai. [γŠι‡‘γ‚’γγ  さい。] B. VERB + 'kudasai' [VERB + くだ さい] Example: eat -> eat, please tabete* -> tabete kudasai [食べて* -> 食べてくだ さい] _____ [You can skip this part, if you want.] *This is a 'te'-form [て-form] of a verb. Breakdown: You have to change the verb into its て-form before you add 'kudasai'. A stand-alone て-form can be used to express requests but also orders. Addition of the 'kudasai' additive makes it into a polite request. So, if you say 'tabete', since it's already a て-form of the word 'eat', you are already asking somebody to eat. But adding 'kudasai' makes it polite ("Please, eat."), whereas using a stand-alone て-form makes it either a plea or an order ("Eat!") depending on the context. So it's best you avoid it. て-from has a lot more purposes in grammar but it's also one of the earlier things you learn when studying the Japanese grammar (N5 / A1 level) so look it up, Heather! Adding other additives to the て-form creates other forms of the same verb. _____ 2. You can't use 'kudasai' in every situation. Another way to ask 'please' would be 'onegai shimasu' (or variations of it that change depending on the level of politeness you should express). Here's how you use it: A: "May I offer some help?" B: "Yes, please." A: "O-tetsudai shimashiou ka?" ["γŠζ‰‹δΌγ„γ—γΎγ—γ‚‡γ†γ‹οΌŸ"] B" Hai, o-negai shimasu." ["γ―γ„γ€γŠι‘˜γ„γ—γΎγ™γ€‚"] 3. If you want to offer something to somebody, for example treat them with a snack, you could also use simple and fun 'douzo'. It would translate close to something like "Please, help yourself." or "Here you go!". A: "It's a chocolate. Please, help yourself." B: "Thank you!" A: "Chiocoleeto desu. Douzo." [" γƒγƒ§γ‚³γƒ¬γƒΌγƒˆγ§γ™γ€‚γ©γ†γžγ€‚"] B: "Arigatou gozaimasu!" ["γ‚γ‚ŠγŒγ¨γ†γ”γ–γ„γΎγ™οΌ"] _____________________________ Phew. Done. Hope it's not overwhelming. Ganbatte kudasai! [γŒγ‚“γ°γ£γ¦γγ γ•γ„οΌ] ("Please, do your best!" / "Good luck!") Bun-sensei ^~^ PS Maybe, I shall copy all those comments and make notes. I can sell those materials later lol.

0. Overlord is an anime of isekai genre. I like it a lot but I'm not sure if you are ready for it. It also doesn't have that great of a story-telling as the anime we're watching right now have. But it's a quite engaging story. From the anime you've seen I would say it's the closest to Solo Leveling, but it's a lot older that SL and the similarity comes more from how it seems like a game. There was a time when anime that were telling a story similar to the gaming universe were super popular. Overlord was one of the firsts that did that. 1. I agree with Jason here: After 2 years of training and after the Sabaody arc where Luffy has experienced the consequences of his recklessness, he definitely seems more collected and calmer. He is still our goofy captain but he's listening to the advice of his comrades and friends and does not run into battle as recklessly as before. For example, he listens to Law and is showing some restraint, executing plans they made in advance etc. Previous Luffy would just focus on Mingo and loose sight of everything else. Now he's focused on the situation of others as well. Still giving up to his emotions but at least trying to keep calm. Gotta remember he is still very young - he only jumped from 17 to 19 yo. It makes sense he is still emotional, gullible, acts recklessly etc. but, nevertheless, he managed to mature a little bit. So I think it's not only a matter of training or experiencing trauma - it's also a matter of simply getting older and more mature. I think Luffy's smart in his own way. He is aware he's not the brightest, he doesn't come up with huge plans like Law, Sanji or Usopp can. He has also learned now that because of his reckless behavior he can put his nakama and friends in danger. But because he's aware of that he comes up with his own way to overcome that. And that is - to rely on his comrades. He was always good at recognizing what he CAN'T do and what others CAN do (see Arlong Park for reference). He is now listening to the advice of others if they try to stop him or tries to follow the plans others have come up with. He will still be stubborn, reckless, naive but he knows he can stay this way because his friends are right there to stop him if things were supposed to go real bad. And I think that's where his charisma comes from. His power is being able to rely on others, being able to always put faith in them and being constantly 100% sure they can do what they said they will. But he is not overestimating them either, he's aware of what his nakama cannot do as much as he is for himself. If I had someone who can see my potential for what it is and tells me I can definitely do this like it's the most obvious thing in the world... I would make them my captain and follow them to death lol. 2. Who spoiled you on Doffy being Tenryuubito (Celestial Dragon)?! That's not nice. 😑 Yes, this was supposed to be the big reveal. I think we were supposed to connect him to Celestial Dragons since he seemed so powerful and mentioned working for someone higher than the Navy's authority reaches... But I think we were supposed to simply think him an agent of Tenryuubito or having some other connections to them, not him BEING one. He didn't seem like a Tenryuubito, starting with how he lives up to the way he behaves. The Celestial Dragons we've met where wearing those suits and masks, sick at the thought of breathing the same air as people. They were reckless when walking around people like nobody would pose a danger to them ever, since their authority is their biggest weapon and shield. While Doffy is a very careful man, always crafting plans, using stand-in double body etc. Tenryuubito use guns and don't seem powerful, relying on the Navy and other people to do the deed for them. Doffy is a freaking Shichibukai (Warlord), he uses Haki, has Devil Fruit powers and is just good at combat in general. He seems like a man a Celestial Dragon would be using as their agent and not a Celestial Dragon of his own. 3. Can't way for the new movie. Is it going to be a horror movie...? I can't watch horrors... 😰 Psychological thriller is a borderline for me, I can watch them so I would look forward for that. 4. I think Oda's writing is somehow restricted as well. He has had editors that help him publish the work. And I believe that especially in the early chapters of the manga his editor was interfering a lot. Afterall, they had to make sure the magazine and the books will sell well. But since Oda is such an accomplished mangaka now and his fanbase is so huge and die-for, he has a lot more freedom in his writing. You can see that if you compare the earlier chapters with the younger ones. It is also less censored now.

I just want to throw out their that, Doflamingo is controlling a clone of himself, controlling Bellamy, fighting both Law and Luffy while also holding up a giant string cage around Dressrosa.

The one peak...the one peak is real!!!

Oda's pulling back the curtain on Doflamingo so slowly. It's killing me and I know what happens next!

Love Franz Ferdinand!

Yesss!!

storitella

Jason, he is in a similar situation you mentionedβ€”Jayton catches a ride when I head into work, so he’s at the school building when the doors open.πŸ˜‚ But he also likes to be early like Heather said. Franz Ferdinand β€œThis Fire” makes me think of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners …which I hope is on the list of anime recommendations, cuz it should be if it isn’t! It’s a wild ride that’s complete in just 10 half-hour episodes.πŸ˜‰

storitella

To be more specific they can watch film gold as soon as the Dressrosa arc is over

Happy

No you guys still have until 750 until you can watch gold but I’ve been trying to tell you guys that you can watch adventure of nebulandia which is on crunchy roll. It’s another one piece movie but it’s not talked about that much, I know you guys don’t want to miss any of the movies so I think you guys should watch it. It can even be a little surprise weekend drop since it’s not like one of the major one piece movies like the ones you guys have watched before but i think it gives another perspective of the strawhats that you would like to see ❀️ Also Heather I heard that Wicked: For good is coming to theaters November 21st. I know you’re gonna be so excited!

Franina

Your comment of the inspiration you are drawing from Oda was really nice to hear!

Lucia Petrozzi

In Marineford, Doflamingo is the one that immobilizes Little Oars Jr and then proceeds to cut his leg (under which we also saw one of the brothers from OP Fan Letter getting trapped). We didn't have a clear idea of his powers at that point, but to an extent he showed us how powerful he was in that episode. I think it was me comparing him to the Joker... πŸ€”
