But watching just how strong Fern has become, is so awesome. Frieren’s training with Fern has definitely taken effect. Then we see Frieren do that barrier break scene, that was incredibly bad ass! And you guys are so right about watching Frieren, it’s just so satisfying to watch. To me it’s just so captivating to watch, I’ve definitely been enjoying watching this anime, it’s been a truly enjoyable experience so far. Can’t wait to finish season 1 with you Jason and Heather.

2025-06-20 06:49:57 +0000 UTCThe breaking of the barrier scene in this episode was honestly more hype than a lot of actual fight scenes. The buildup, the animation, the music, the dialogue, even the reactions, it all just hit perfectly. You could really feel the weight behind it. Frieren taking down the barrier and Serie’s (the other elf’s) reaction? Golden. That moment where Serie goes, “It’s been a thousand years and this is how you say hello?” was hilarious but also kinda sweet. 😂 You could tell there was some weird pride in her voice, like, “Okay, I see you, you’ve grown up a little, kid.” I mean, to Serie, Frieren must be a child to her, crazy to imagine how long the lifespans of elves are as Serie must be maybe another thousand years older than Frieren maybe? 🤯 Also, just to make sure you guys caught it, Flamme (Frieren’s teacher) was actually Serie’s student. Which says a lot, because if Flamme’s that powerful, imagine how insanely strong Serie must be. Oh, and fun fact: a lot of the names in the show are German in origin. So names like Serie are actually pronounced with a Z sound, like “Zeh-reh,” and “Sense” (the proctor for the next exam) would be “Zen-zeh.” Also, in these episodes, they talk about imagination. Frieren herself says that magic is shaped by how vividly you can picture it. The stronger and clearer your mental image, the more powerful and flexible the spell becomes. It’s not just about memorizing spells, it’s about how creative you are with them. If your imagination is weak, the spell stays basic. But if you can really picture what you want, you can twist and evolve any spell into something way more powerful. There’s a clear example of this in the upcoming episodes so I’ll let you guys see that when it comes 😉 But it basically shows you how personal magic is in this world. It’s less about textbook training and more about how far your mind can stretch an idea. Finally, shoutout to Denken’s line: “I’m out of mana but I’m not out of hands.” Absolute legend. 😂😂

I think she’s very cool and I can’t wait to see more of her in later seasons. Heather if you want to read the manga I suggest on the Viz media website or app. I would recommend just typing in frieren manga on google and clicking on the viz website. I think they make you pay a $1.99 fee every month and that’s it.

2025-06-18 01:46:58 +0000 UTCUnfortunately the Manga has been put on indefinite hiatus at chapter 141. I think season 1 ends at chapter 60. We don't know when author Kanehito Yamada is going to restart the manga but some say it may be health related but no one really knows? Its a real bummer.
