To answer your inquiry, Death Note aired as a singular season from October 2006 to June 2007. Hearing that youโre enjoying the transition to Mello & Near is great!! Thereโs a lot of people who dropped the series after Lโs death. I also agree with Jason, that the plot kept its fast pace when Mello & Near swapped into Lโs position, much like jumping right into a new story. I feel like the people who stopped watching had difficulty with the transition, like theyโre unable to separate the story into parts or acts. Plus, some people didnโt want an L replacement. But I think the idea of the Wammyโs House orphanage nurturing genius children as Lโs place of origin beautifully sets up that a larger force is lurking & able to pursue criminals like Kira. Itโs an establishment made to always have an โLโ character available to replace the next, like an immortal figurehead. Thereโs other things in Death Note that were also divisive with fans, but I wanna wait until the end to discuss it.
