Ooooh, I get it. Thanks for your response! It’s cool to come here and learn new things <3

Carla

The debate is more so involving (they aren't technically singing so why are they lip syncing, and others are like, they are emulating the character so them lip syncing shows that they are more "accurate" in representing what they are trying to justify.)

Jessica Holyfield

Can totally understand what you’re saying! If you have, let’s say, a contemporary piece with a more serious tone, lip syncing can mess up the vibe. I’m pretty interested in what the debate might be regarding lip syncing in musical theater 🤔

Carla

Exactly 😄

Domina Popescu

So you're basically saying that if I were to take a shot for every time Seonghwa lip-syncs on a part that isn't his, I would be DRUNK by the end of the performance haha!

Jessica Holyfield

I really enjoyed Cyberpunk in terms of performance and aesthetic!!!

Jessica Holyfield

You make very valid points!! There is really nothing wrong with it honestly haha! It's more of an issue in the dance world than the idol world because the songs you are performing are yours, and with the dance side of things, there is a style category for lip syncing while dancing (Musical Theatre) and even that is a debated topic amongst colleagues! I would feel it can possibly take away from the performance if you are trying to have a specific concept represented but you are lip syncing other peoples parts, but that's more of my personal opinion rather than based on anything!

Jessica Holyfield

I think it's more so to do with intention. If you lip sync ONLY and never sing live, it makes people ask more questions than answers in terms of competency of ability if that makes sense! I personally don't mind either as long as the voice you are claiming (live or lip synced) is yours.

Jessica Holyfield

Thank you for commenting!! Excited to hear from you more in the future!

Jessica Holyfield

As a tattoo girlie myself I think I may have developed a tattoo radar with all the time sitting and getting ink over the years haha! That's so cool that you caught that!

Jessica Holyfield

Hey, this is my first time commenting on one of your videos, and I love them. I realized you like spotting tattoos. If you go back to the 20:56 mark you can see one of Wooyoung's tattoos on the side of his torso

Chelsea

SEONGHWA lip syncs A LOTTTT when it’s not his part. if you watch his facecams for guerrilla, or halazia or others you can clearly tell he is always mouthing certain lyrics

Domina Popescu

You know I love me a good symmetrical balance haha! All the way down to the CLOTHES!!

Jessica Holyfield

VERY interesting theory for this! The Behind the scenes haven't given as much in terms of BBTrippin's involvement within justifying the lore within a group's choreo, but that doesn't mean that they aren't! Great way to look at it!

Jessica Holyfield

You talked about loving how they handled the costumes and positioning those that were in different colors in strategic places... One of the best examples they ever did of that was on a live performance of Halazia. Some members where in all white, some in all black and two were half and half. At one point in the choreo they lay down and it literally goes from white to black with the standing feature being one of those in half white and half black. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUCdG9nD-hw

I definitely agree with bbtrippin keeping the choreo more stiff to let them sing better, but I want to bring up lore that may or may not have had influence on this choreo (I could just be thinking too deeply about it lol). This song is the first after the intro on their first album where they enter world Z which is where no emotion or art is allowed and the lyrics in Sector 1 talk about that a lot. So I'm not sure if they wanted to represent that like brainwashed/restricted element with more stiffness in this choreo since it is their entry into this world before they start their underground campaign to overthrow the government in Guerilla a few songs after this

Taylor

Sector 1 was not my favorite b side mostly due to the chorus. I think the choreo reflexes how weird the chorus is. Cyberpunk on the same album is probably the best bside on the album and one of their bsides/songs. The choreo is also very cool with interesting prop work. I think when it comes to idols lip-synching to the song when it's not their part I have noticed a few things. It usually happens with idols who really like their music and/or get excited during performances i.e. Mamamoo. The ladies are not the best at lip-synching since they usually sing live, and because they have always used handheld mics, the few times they have used the headset you can hear some members singing when it's not their part of the song lol. Hence why they usually stick to handheld mics. I have also seen the lip-synching -ism a lot in the group members who are usually involved in lyric writing/music production of the tracks. The people that first come to mind are Han and Changbin from Stray Kids. In a lot of wide shot lives and fancams, you can see them singing a lot to most of the song. I think since the 2 of them, along with Bangchan, are the main producers and lyricists of the group, they end up listening to the track waaaay more than the rest of the group until is ready, and singing along might have become second nature to them more than for other members. But these are only my opinions and maybe I only noticed these people because they are my biases/groups that I follow closely lol.

Carla

In the case of not being an idol would you say lip singing is still bad?
