As for popping, I don't know too much about dance so I'm probably not the person to ask, but I think the most purely popping we see from Taemin is actually his audition video for SM Ent and in some of his earlier freestyles he did for variety shows? It was the style he started with so I think he defaulted towards it for freestyles. Taemin doesn't really freestyle much and I think that might come from his perfectionist nature.
