I was the BIGGEST Mbitious fan and I had never seen 5000 until the Be Mbitious prequel that formed them but OMFG he is MINDBLOWINGLY good. His musicality is insane and its the little understated things that he thinks to do my non-dancer brain can't even put it into words other than I feel like he helps me see sound. I loved his choreo the most but ain't no way others could have recreated this at his level and they knew it lol.

2023-10-07 22:19:53 +0000 UTCi know this is a late reply but exactly 😭 another big issue was taking a dig at ateez when in reality they really didn't even say much except i think a member said he didn’t want to do the challenge for this reason. all in all it very well blew out of proportion when a simple “hey these moves are very similar” could have diffused the situation a lot. i hope everything behind the scenes was resolved peacefully though bc it must’ve been hell for everyone involved

I will say this was all happening while the crews were still ACTIVELY competing so the level of mental stress could have contributed to the messiness of Vata's way of handling it. All in all, what's done is done and Vata learned the hard way whenever you are faced with accountability (regardless if it was intentionally done. I have some issues with how the Ateez choreographers handled it as well (one of them I know personally and he also was in hot water with the Popping/Hiphop US communities because of his miseducating the term "pocket" to the masses. My personal take regarding all this is Vata should have approached this better, and the Ateez choreographers shouldn't have stirred the pot either, because they themselves had their own mess they needed to deal with.)

2023-10-07 05:20:32 +0000 UTCjust to provide more context and why this ateez vs vata issue got messier than it should have been: - it actually first started because people accused ateez of copying vata after a clip of them performing say my name started spreading - the example his fans and acquaintances provided of this glide being similarly used in existing choreography were in the same circle as the choreographers of say my name and was also uploaded after the controversy already blew up - vata has notably bit or been heavily inspired from various american choreographers before, including johnny erasme (one of the choreographers of say my name) - instead of saying it wasnt conscious plagiarism in his official statement vata instead said that the moves are completely different, then continued to say it was unfortunate that ateez failed to uphold the mutual respect between artist and dancer. obviously, ateez fans didnt take too well with that. all in all i dont think vata consciously plagiarized it, but regardless of the truth he, his friends, and his fans kinda dealt with it the worst way possible 😭 i feel like if he dmed the choreographers privately first it wouldn't have spiralled out of control.

2023-10-06 08:02:44 +0000 UTCmy only issue with vata’s choreo were some people stepping in and saying the moves don’t look similar at all, when they do 😭 intentionally or not there’s no denying the moves were similar and i think that specific reason is another reason why this issue was so big
