Development Post - 032

So here we are in October. One of my favorite months since I can now scare the shit out of gas station employees by coming in with a mask and then calling it 'justified'. Recommended, until they pull out a firearm and the senile old lady in the back starts throwing chocolate bars at you.

I digress... However, I will start this post off by saying that these last couple of days have been very therapeutic for me. I got to work on something I actually wanted to work on for more than a couple of hours and it's starting to have that spark of being finished. Sort of like when you make something that looks like shit, but with time, it grows into something you're proud of... Like babies!

For anyone that didn't notice, these posts have severely dropped in quality. We went from 2 posts a week with livestreams, pictures/screenshots, and an attempt at comedy, to 1 post a week and enough disappointment in comparison to make you want to forgive your father after all of these years. Then again, 19 years is longer than 7 months, so maybe we're not too bad off.

Akabur released SC34 Episode 08 to his Patrons a couple days ago. Apparently it took him 12 weeks to make the one before it, as well as another 12 weeks to make the current one. Of the episodes I've played, his art and writing are really great. The episodes are usually a tad short, but what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality. I feel a similar issue, since this project is sort of a pet project in my life and dedicating too much time into it could make everything fall out of balance. Of course, there's always the chance that the page blows up after Chapter 2, but putting all my money on that is a risk we shouldn't logically take. There will be people who will unpledge, and that's simply a fact. Chapter 2 will happen regardless. :)

Another factor we face against the time is the CGs. Since we've only just touched on the story I have planned, much of the introduction requires us to actually see what's going on, as opposed to reading what's going on. So I could put, "Tigress punches you", but it wouldn't be nearly as effective as flashing the screen, playing a sound, and showing Tigress' fist move from your screen. Of course, with these CGs, I have to keep the art quality relatively simple. Plus when you add in all the customization options, that just means I need to keep things even more simple. But there's a line we have to draw before it becomes too simple and that's where my next point comes in.

TLCs (Shoutout to any of my followers that play ARK). Previously I mentioned that we have lost quality and many things were simplified/half-assed. Well that's where the TLC will come in. Tender Love and Care. After release, I will dedicate time to fix all the textures/sprites/backgrounds that were clearly done in less than an hour. This isn't really anything new, but I just want you guys to know that I'm not going to accept the state that Chapter 1 came in, and these Chapters will always improve.

The Work. Seeing as I bit off more than I can chew with the September release date, it seems October is our time. I said I was done with the concepts a while ago, but screwed myself over by continuing without thinking it through. The replay option took time to develop, but it works. Main Menu spankings each took about an hour per animation (which was the equivalent of all I could work on for those days), but they work. During the time I was working full time, I finished all the backgrounds for this Chapter and I got one sex scene done.

Next thing to work on. Continue the sex scenes, finish the combat sprites and their respective special move cutscenes, add in some more dialogue, think I'm finished, and then remember that I need sounds/music. Once that is done, I'll post the bughunt, give it about 3 days, release to all $5+ patrons, make all the different countdowns for each tier, and then I'll begin work on the TLC.

Last thing I wanted to mention, is that I have a website planned. On that site, you will be able to find all projects (Currently only Kung Fu XXX) and their current public builds, as well as any art I may release over time such as behind-the-scenes pictures or little doodles. I'm thinking something kinda like Krinkels' website.
