[BOYS PLANET] K vs G GROUP BATTLE (그룹 배틀) EPISODE 3

[BOYS PLANET] K vs G GROUP BATTLE (그룹 배틀) EPISODE 3

Comments

Ah! Gotcha! Thank you for clarifying that. So unfortunate that they experienced that

Jessica Holyfield

yeah, it’s the choreo. exo have barely performed it since promotions. somehow i don’t think they were sad that monster massively outperformed it 😂 but just for a little context since you’ve seen the episode, most of g-group were unfortunately ill. there must’ve been a bug going around because the boys are consistently unwell throughout the show and a lot of them ended up in positions they weren’t used to because they couldn’t sing. happened to seunghwan in danger as he’s mainly a vocalist and dancer not a rapper. also, wummuti and jay have been on a survival show together prior with min and seunghwan (their cover of mirotic is incredible).

I try to get through an episode a week with an analysis if it pertains to the episode. I have the Analysis for episode 4 recorded and will be edited tonight. The episode will be recorded tonight and uploaded tomorrow! It changes each week but I typically try to start recording BP on either Tuesdays/Wednesdays my time!

What’s the schedule for Boys Planet reactions?

To be honest if someone showed me G-group kill this love and said they’d already debuted and I didn’t have any context I wouldn’t really question it. Same with K-group Love me right but I’m not I huge fan of the song so I wasn’t as wowed if that makes sense. I really think Seventeen makes their songs look easy when they really aren’t (especially their earlier songs)

Love how much you analyze details as always! Like you point out, the camera movements definitely are edited in a way to tell the story they want, but the same can be said for vocals. I feel like there was definitely some selective pitch correction but it’s so hard to tell.

That is great insight to know about this! Thank you so much for the clarification!

Jessica Holyfield

I’m so happy you get to spread your wings haha😂 love all the clarifying info! Excited to keep digging into part 2 and future episodes! Going to be super fun and I’m also excited to marathon all the groups that came out of this show as well!!

Jessica Holyfield

Haha live still being in the dark for this for the reasons you said and it makes it fun when I get to piece everything together organically!

Jessica Holyfield

Love all of this info!!! Thank you so much!!!

It’s an Apple device thing 😂😂 when I hold out a “peace” sign it happens even when I don’t want it to

The voice cracks! Yeah they happened a lot more here compared to Universe League (then again there's twice as many contestants here). I'm glad MNET doesn't edit them out since it's something that just happens sometimes, even to well trained veteran idols. At the end of the day, its really about how a performer handle and bounces back from it; do they maintain a straight face and move on like it was part of the performance? Or do they choke up and freeze? Mun Junhyun (the guy in Aju Nice with the voice cracks) he basically just plowed through it and held it together until the end. You'll see the whole backstory on it in the episode. Sidenote: he's the guy you asked about during the Ateez performance. He is currently in a group with a bunch of other Boys Planet guys. I love how you can sniff out XLOV's Rui (Chen Kuanjui) from anywhere now. The other 2 XLOV guys were in the G-group Love Me Right performance: Wumuti (the one in the slightly different color jacket and yellow cap who starts the song) and Haru (the blonde guy with the sweatband). Yes there's quite a few nicknames that get referenced throughout the show. Red House/Blue House are the 2 guys who did "My House" and it's based on the shirt colors they wore. This something even the guys on the show bring up, not just the viewers. Another nickname I remember being commonly used was Shanbin/Phanbin which was something the fans collectively started using to differentiate Sung Hanbin and Park Hanbin. Because there were 2 Hanbins on the show and they were both really good and ranked high so I feel like viewers just collectively decided Shanbin = Sung Hanbin and Phanbin = Park Hanbin. It also helped separate them from Lee Hanbin who was a contestant on Fantasy Boys which was airing around the same time. Yes there is a reasoning behind why certain members have the "outlier" colored fit and personally that always bugged me when they do that on shows like this because to me, it looks like 1 guy forgot to read the group chat and showed up in the wrong outfit. I feel like there are better ways of styling someone different than sticking them in a completely different color. One thing to note, I actually just noticed this even though I've rewatched Boys Planet so many times but Aju Nice K-team, 4/7 guys have debuted before so looking at 52:27, from 2nd left in blue sleeves is Dongyeol who was in Up10tion, center is Woongki who was in TO1, and next to him is Jiho and Seowon who are both part of Nine.i (Joohyung in Team Groove on Universe League is also part of this group). I think because so many of them had prior stage experience it helped them sell the fun playful side of Aju Nice better than G-group since they knew what gestures to do to enhance the performance. Sidenote: I noticed you reacted to a bunch of Project 7 performances. So few guys from Boys Planet did end up competing on that show and Ma JingXiang (43:53) and Jang Yeojun (26:12) end up placing in the top 7 of that show and debuting in Close Your Eyes.

57:15 where the hell did those balloons come from😭😭😭

I remember that too! And the guys' hair and make up, at least for the first few stages were also done by students.

Secretninja312 (Tina)

I don't think it would spoil anything but i've edited it out just in case

Ohh you don't know how hard I laughed when I saw you were confused between ZB1's Kim Jiwoong (aka "sexy guy", who is not in any of those performances) and Mingyu, also known as Red House, in Aju Nice 😂 But it's nice because Mingyu did quite well for someone who had never trained as an idol, so well that his lack of experience didn't appear too obvious to you and you didn't recognize him. Sung Hanbin was always my #1 pick and has since become my favorite Kpop idol and indeed, it's insane how stable his vocals can be while he's dancing. You didn't recognize the rest of ZB1 featured in these performances (minus Gunwook kinda, in Kill This Love K team) and I find it very refreshing. Your comments are very objective this way, and still you only had good words for the ones who made it to the final lineup. I can't wait for you to see how they prepared for the performances because many of your comments were spot on and you will REALLY find answers for them in the episode. Thank you for this video!

Lumos

maybe let's not point out the centers because it might spoil episodes if the center isn't very apparent in the performance

Is my moment to shine! Kill this love G group was a legendary performance, for me, they were the best of the round and I was happy because Matthew took my heart because of personality and cuteness, but I don't like to support people just for that, and in the star level test he did good, but in the signal song IDK why he was placed in all stars, I didn't think he deserved that. So i was like ok, I'll vote based on the next performance and they were so good! and Matthew was good again! Now with more shows under my belt I understand Signal song Challenge is just hell everywhere and that it doesn't show the guy's real talent, but I didn't know that back then 🥲 20:30 Yes he is a member of ZB1 Park Gun Wook He was one of my picks since the begining because he was solid since episode 1 50:28 His name is seung eon he is not in the final line up, but he is the main vocal of Evnne wich is one of the many groups that formed out of the people that didn't make it 1:03:13 I was going to tell you, but I'll let you find naturally as requested 🤣 With Love me right G group I remember not knowing the song at that time, I was like barely getting into Kpop back then but this performance felt a bit of a mess to me and I clocked the exact guy who was ruining it, to put it in a way, because the others were fine, but he was so out of everything vocally... And I'm a musician, I may not know the song, but the back track can give me an idea and with him like pitch wasn't right, tempo wasn't right and he was singing so loud that he was clashing with everyone else. I felt bad for Jay because he nailed it

Hi ! So yep, I think majority would agree with the teams you picked for each song. I do, like if you take in account the overall stability of the whole team with vocals and dancing + the energy, chemistry and stage presence for those three it is pretty easy for me to choose. So for Kill This Love : I love Gunwook (the center of Kill This Love that was going full out), so much, this guy is so talented, but yep the rest of the team was not exactly on his level. I mean they still did fine except a couple cracks for one guy in comparison to other performances (just the Aju Nice performances had overall a lot more cracks or not so good vocal moments). Also agree that the styling and concept was better for G group, but they sold it so well not only with their singing and dancing but also their stage presence and facial expressions etc.. So I would 100% give it to them. The tones of their voices also all worked really well with the track. For Aju Nice, only one guy really messed up for the K group and Seungeon (the one with the hand mic) just did so well that yep they're taking it. They were a lot mistakes, even small ones, here and there in the G group, and the energy was not the same. The K group really looked like they enjoyed themselves on stage, and Woongki probably helped a lot with that as he always gives this feeling x) For the Love Me Right performances, like you said for the K team overall everyone really did their part well (they could have been better of course here and there, but no obvious mistake). But for the G team it kind feel like "Jay & friends" for me. A couple of them stood out a little, like Haruto or Wumuti, but yeah it's a little bit the same problem than Kill this Love K team, but with the singing. The difference in vocals (and charisma) between Jay and the majority of the team was pretty obvious in comparison to K team. Also yep Hanbin is so stable, it's pretty insane. This guy is very talented and has clearly worked hard to be where he is today ! Thank you for the video, I enjoy so much rewatching it with you seriously, I will wait for the next one ! :D

Mun Junghyun is the one you said was a phenomenon. He was a part of my Top 9 the whole show. He had some struggles but also some amazing moments and the kicker is that he's mainly a rapper and dancer so he's an allrounder. The great news was that even though he didn't make it and i cried for his elimination, he ends up in a group with also the Main Vocalist of Aju Nice on his team and a lot of other heavy hitters in Boys Planet like Keita and Park Hanbin.

I remember reading at the time of airing that all the stage costumes were done by students of a fashion school just a fun bit of information that maybe explains some of the discrepancies
