As Aleks points out in the comments above, the overarching theme of the song and the album are the loss of innocence as one comes into adulthood. Given that, in the cannon of Judeo-Christianism, Eve is tempted to sin by a serpent (snake), the use of the snaking dance move is so fitting to the content and concept. Specially because they do the move in the first section of the chorus [or is it the pre-chorus?] where the boys are already seduced, offering up “[their] blood, sweat tears, and [their] last dance… [their] cold breath.” They are giving EVERYTHING. But also, the snaking, with the tension and texture you mention the choreo has, can generally be read as just ✨sexy✨so the choice in movements paints a clear picture for us (the audience). Even if we don’t quite know the lyrics or context, we can SEE that is seduction at play. Main character sees childhood as something pure, angelic, 'good' and adulthood as something devilish, seductive, 'evil'. So like the song 'Boy meets evil' can be interpreted as 'Boy becoming an adult'. I think even before this era some members were noticed reading the book. In my opinion this album mostly reflect their actual life state in that moment as young adults.

Way back when, early 90’s maybe, I used to be able to do snaking, but now, both snaking and cobra would cause my spine to snap in two. 😂🤣 Anyway, loved your analysis of this, thank you Jess!
