SDC5 [就是街舞 第六季 Street Dance China 5] EPISODE 10 FULL

I know this is kind of out of nowhere since it's been months after the video was posted, but I just watched the episode and wanted to talk a bit about what you mentioned around 1:32:57. In terms of claiming Korean or Mongolian folk dance as Chinese or not properly representing those cultures, from what I understand, the dance style isn't actually meant to represent Korean or Mongolian culture from those countries, but rather the styles of the Korean-Chinese (Chaoxianzu; 朝鲜族) and Mongolian-Chinese (Mengguzu; 蒙古族) ethnic groups within China. There are 55 recognized ethnic minority groups in China besides the majority Han group, which is where a lot of the commonly known “traditional Chinese” culture comes from. And so the whole issue that people have had kind of comes down to poor translation. This part of the fusion challenge is between street dance and minzu (民族) dance. Minzu meaning ethnic group. So the dancers are fusing street dance with the cultural dance of one of those ethnic minority groups rather than with the cultural dance of another country. There are of course overlaps and similarities between some of the groups and other countries, like the Korean-Chinese group and Korea due to the geographic proximity and the historical migration of people. But in my opinion, they're not really trying to represent the culture of other countries or claim them as their own, just highlight the culture of those smaller ethnic groups within China. That said, it's still fair to be concerned about whether or not those ethnic groups are being accurately or respectfully represented, even if there isn't an issue of trying to appropriate or misrepresent another country's culture. Anyways, sorry for the random long ramble, just something I think is interesting and wanted to share!
