[BOYS PLANET] EPISODE 8 FULL

[BOYS PLANET] EPISODE 8 FULL

Comments

Just wanted to point out that Keita not only was an absolute sunshine this whole episode, always bringing good vibes, but he also immediately complimented Hao for his killing part attempt and called him the best, even though Keita wanted the part himself. Imo Keita did the part better (even though hes a rapper on paper, how insane is that), and he still voted for Hao. Humble and selfless. Sometimes sadly to a fault (as well see in later episodes). Of course we dont really know them but Keita just gives me such an honest and genuine vibe, I cant help but root for him.

Bonus material is COMING! Most likely next week if it all works out! And I’m intrigued at how they stir this drama pit of non existing drama haha . Going to be interesting here!

I thought I left a comment but I didn't :'( Anyway, Ep 8. if you remember, I said in ep 5 that Mnet did a 'First Survivor announcement' and announced the first trainee that got saved in a livestream. They did the same here. So in the livestream, the audience and the boys were told that Woongki was on the cusp of elimination. I'm sure you can find it somewhere with enough digging, since I think they cut it a little bit, but when they announce it, I swear Woongki straight up has a panic attack. I remember people being really mad they did it like that, telling them at the beginning just for the drama of it all. The field day is SOOO FUN. They definitely cut a lot of it, and more stuff is available on Youtube, I highly recommend you watch, either in your own time or as bonus stuff cause it is actually so fun. As you saw, Hwanhee was MC here because he ended up removing himself from the competition prior to the second mission starting. Most people got the groups/teams they wanted. As always, things will change now that the elimination happened. A big shock for a lot of people who didn't vote was Jiwoong, since he asked to be in Say my Name to show a cuter side of him. If that hadn't happened he definitely would've been put in Over Me. Shuai Bo does make it this round, but the damage has been done. He was becoming increasingly popular in Korea due to his visuals, but pretty much all of them dropped him after Ep 7. Mnet did the damage, and now they just pretend he doesn't exist for the remainder of the challenge, unfortunately, to not give him any chance at a redemption. Mnet is doing a really weird edit with Matthew/Hanbin that will last the remainder of this challenge. It makes Hanbin look great, securing his top spot even more, but I'm still really confused on what they tried to do for Matthew here long-term, especially when you watch ep 9/10. I'll actually explain my thoughts when it comes up next ep lol. Also, idk if you know yet, but all the performances have a non-stage dance practice where you can better analyze the moves/synchronization of the group if you want. Highly recommend! :D

Woongki and Shuaibo being on the same group is like fate, destiny. I never expected that to happen before Universe League aired 😅😅

Jongwoo went from 75 to 67 to 38 to 15!! He was Boys Planet's actual dark horse!

woongki and seowon's planet camp tour is iconic. woongki and park hanbin shading each other always kills me lol

You got it !! And I’m glad that people who struggled through this mindset shirt still have been able to grow and learn from it!

i agree with what you said at 1:01:15. just because they’re on the verge of eliminations, they are still being filmed and people are still watching them. companies may watch survival shows to scout trainees. for example, yunjin from lesserafim was on produce 48 which formed iz*one, but she was eliminated at a certain point. however she was called to be a part of lesserafim which was arguably a better opportunity that being in iz*one since it was a permanent group (unlike iz*one). i know it must be difficult for them to find the motivation, but i wish that a lot of the boys on here could get rid of the mindset that everything is over if they don’t make it in this specific show. also yes, you should do the analysis after all the reshuffling and the preparation just like you’ve been doing in the previous episodes.

One reason why I have enjoyed getting to watch BP now vs back when it was airing is because we get to see how so many contestants of the show are able to experience success within different groups! I can't wait to dive into all of these groups and their discographies!!!

Jessica Holyfield

Indeed you should wait until all teams reshuffle and start preparing for the mission again before watching the performances, because there will be some dramatic changes and you definitely don't want to get spoiled beforehand! Jiwoong wanting to go to Say My Name was really the best decision for him. Not only it showed how much he wanted to challenge himself, but given who was in Top 9 all along the show, it was really predictable from the start that ZB1 was gonna get a fresh/youthful concept. Him staying on sexy concepts could have made people re-think their votes for him (maybe not for one-pick, since it came to individual fandoms, but it could have impacted the next round aka three-picks votes). My heart really broke for so many contestants, such as Wumuti, Mun Junghyun, Yedam, Yunseo... so many talents that were dropped at this point in the show. But let's be honest, Boys Planet gathered such a talented pool of trainees that it was unavoidable to see a good part of them leave after round 2 already... at least many have debuted (or are debuting) now, so the pill has finally been swallowed 2 years after lol. What still frustrates me though is the next episode's cliffhanger; witnessing some future editing again will be painful, but at the same time I anticipate how you're going to analyze it. Thank you so much for the video!

Ok so the whole Shuaibo and the voting, I feel like if they had aired "Feel Special" in episode 6, he likely would've been eliminated this round. But because voting closed less than 12hrs after episode 7 aired, that means only people who haven't voted the day of the episode could change their mind on who to vote. So that's why he still ranked high. Frankly it was amazing Woongki was saved last minute since his ranking had been slipping for weeks. But MAN! I remember the sh!tstorm that was the aftermath of "Feel Special" . They previewed the 28th place candidate 8 hours before voting closed prior to episode 8 airing and when people saw Woongki crying, the narrative people came up with, Woongki is panicking because he's on the verge of being eliminated and its Shuaibo's fault for causing him to have a panic attack. Though looking at it now, I think Woongki crying could be interpreted as him being relieved or shocked that he even has shot at staying in because he has been ranked 30 something prior. But anyways, I honestly don't think there was any lasting tension between them two. And now they're in the same group lol.

I admit that it was a mistake for me to divide too much big dichotomously. However, the high ranking of Jongwoo who often starts with black paint on the bias trainee's table in Korea(Even in the scene where Jongwoo led Majingxiang in this episode, hate voice was loud because Majingxiang was more handsome and Jong-woo was uglier...), and Wang Zhihao, who had almost no significant screentime and Korean fandom, played a big role in the judgment. But in the case of Taerae, the case of Seungeon, Jeonghyeon, and the case of Junhyun and Kamden are all different. In fact, Taerae started with the attention of the band scene rather than the kpop fandom through a video before the broadcast. Many people said that he was a talent taken away from the band world. Compared to the small amount in the beginning, it has been discussed as the main vocal position by many people, and it has solidified its position once again through 'Man In Love' stage. Seungeon had a catchphrase of visual main vocal, and he had been mentioned as the main vocal position often along with Tae-rae. And there were some small memes about the sincere SEVENTEEN fanboy with ranked 17th in a row. Junghyeon is a member of the visual dark horse that has not been spotlighted due to his small screentime, and fans worked hard to make his face known. And it works because he has a handsome classmate-like visual that Koreans liked a lot during their school days. Junhyun is certainly talented, but there were more favorable votes due to his humor. Many people wanted to see him for a long time because he held the comedy points including all episode. Kamden was rarely subjected to indiscriminate hate because there was a lot of sympathy for his struggles in the backdoor g group (Korean has a widespread trauma about group projects villains). And in the middle of the show, an account that cheered him on appeared. He posted a picture of a character doll called pou that looked like him, and his favorability quickly rose as it became a big meme in the Korean fandom. There were even people who mimiced that account and bought dolls. In addition, there were not many rapper position as they went to the top of the vote, so they were more competitive in position.

There is more Field Day games/segments that they released on youtube! I sent you the playlist of it and a bunch of other extras. Btw, Hwanhee, the guy that was hosting the Field Day, he was the one who dropped out after the previous elimination. That's why the guys were so happy to see him again.

Gahhh they're really trying to pull this Hanbin vs Matthew tension/drama and they REALLY drag it out. For Over Me, I feel like Jongwoo was the perfect type of leader for someone like Ma Jingxiang. From what I see. MJX has the drive and wants to practice and work but he has a tendency to get in his own bubble and stray away on his own when its a group project. What Jongwoo did that I think the other leaders in MJX previous rounds didn't do was basically stay firm and push a clear oath for the group. Like Jongwoo said, he will listen to suggestions, but he won't do or change anything unless it benefits the group as a whole. And from what they showed, it looks like MJX understood that and followed Jongwoo. And I think he learned from this show because he didn't show this type of "You're taking too long, I'm going to work on my own" attitude on Project 7. There were multiple instances that showed him teaching others who were falling behind or taking the initiative to get the group to continue rehearsing while the leader was out etc, so basically like Shuaibo, he had a redemption arc on his next survival show. I remember feeling so so bad for Wumuti here since its clear he really wanted this to work out and he was forced to lead a group that was losing their drive to keep going since most of them were ranked lower than 30. I kinda get why they don't want to practice because it does feel more heartbreaking if you work so hard on a performance but don't get to perform it. But still, its frustrating to see someone like Wumuti really try only to not make it, also worse that he finally got screentime and a focus storyline only to be eliminated. He was my first major heartbreak on this show since he was one of my picks. At least we know now that he finally debuted as the leader of XLOV. This show created so many iconic duos and so many cute friendships like Woongki/Seowon, Gunwook/Junhyeon, Jongwoo/Jay, Hao/Hanbin.

Secretninja312 (Tina)

No they don’t. Global fans seem to put more weight on sexuality, meaning if a contestant acts a certain way, they will get votes. I’ve seen it under many comments: “I don’t know who this diva is and I don’t care if they have talent, they’re an icon and I’m voting them. Korean fans voting visuals is not true. Seungeon was carried by Korean fans, so was Taerae, Kamden, Jeonghyeon, Junhyeon, etc.

Haha 😂😂😂

Gosh, I agree so much with everything you said in here, even with the small things like Yujin not listening to Hanbin x) Just a precision about the vote system, I don't know how much you know about it exactly so : What's really important is not the number of contestants (even though it does play a part when someone you voted for is eliminated) but the number of trainees we can vote for. And it changes for each elimination, and this is what makes the rankings move as much. For the first round we could vote for 9 trainees each day, for the second (here) it was 6, then the third was 3 and for the finale only one pick. The one pick is what really can change many things. In many survivals that work with a similar voting system (all Mnet survivals + some others) we have been able to see how much the moment we hit the one pick is when things get really complicated to predict. For example there is often the trainees that are in everyone's line-up but are in no one's (or not many people) one pick. So they can rank high as long as we can vote for several contestants, but it won't work with the one-pick. And it's hard to catch it before it happens, so when the final rankings are announced, and it's too late to do anything about it. And it's not easy to predict which trainees have a strong one-pick especially from the ones that are ranking close to the top 9 (overall top 15/20). Just another thing I wanted to point out, about Jiwoong asking to be placed in "Say My Name" the opposite concept to what he's known for. I loved that personally, just the fact that he challenges himself. Actually we saw that from a few members of Zb1 during the show and I have much respect for them. Like Hanbin going to the only category that didn't have to dance when it's obviously his strongest skill. Or same for Gunwook, that I was expecting to go for the rap and dance performance (something like Law) but went for Tomboy. Oh also, a quick thought about Wumuti. I'm actually half-mad at Mnet about him. Mad because Wumuti has a lot more screen time AFTER being eliminated (starting with this episode) than before like, seriously Mnet ?! But at least, I'm happy, like you said, thank's to this edit they showed him in a great light and that helped him. Many people were really waiting for him to debut, and they did amazing with their debut so now I hope the best for XLOV ! Thank you again for this, it was so much fun, can't wait for the next mission now x) Have an amazing day ! :D

There were quite a few differences between Korean and global fans in the way they voted for a favorite member except for their bias. Korean netizens often put a little more weight on their visuals, while global netizens seemed to put more weight on their skills. This can also be seen as a factor in the drop in the ranks of the top nine players such as Hui and Jay. Since the Korean vote rate is 50 percent, they cannot survive unless the votes of both K and G are high. In the case of Matthew, the hate was getting higher, but the core fan was quite high too, so it seems that he was able to fall only two places (but the future editing is...🙄). There were also discussions about age. Sad to say, the argument that idols should be as young as possible has a strong validity because Korea has a conscription system. For this reason, among the members who were called f4 (Jiwoong, Hanbin, Gyuvin, and Yujin) in the beginning of the show, only relatively old Jiwoong was often excluded, and Hui, who was older than him, was, of course, ostracized by his age. Of course, there were many Koreans who didn't agree with him, and because they also had a high core fan base, their rankings only dropped a little. In Korea, there seemed to be quite a few people who were swept up by claims that seemed strong on the Internet because elementary and middle school students also voted after watching this broadcast. What was also interesting was that there were people inside Korean fans who voted mainly for the Chinese visual line, is Zhang Shuaibo, Ricky, and Ma Jingxiang being their key members. The ranks tended to rise little by little because they actively supported the surviving members whenever their core members fell and added up their votes to him.

I FUCKING LOVE JUNHYEON

Planet camp tour is just "those I suspect are gay tour" (our beloveds)

Lauren Freeman

You can just watch the princess game on repeat so you have a nice meal 😂♥️🥲

Jessica Holyfield

on Hanbin: Its REALLY not many idols that I clock as suspected S-tier communicators and conflict resolution people. He talks like someone very VERY emotionally mature and intelligent and it's nice to see that from a young man of his age. He is tactful, seems to be mindful to want to be considerate of peoples feelings while also being assertive in advocating for what he wants. The teaching experience makes sense 100%

Lauren Freeman

You did pick Gunwook for En Guarde! I remember because I was surprised you remembered him lol. It's Choi Youngjun's choreo too. Honestly I think his choreo really suits Gunwook because he seems to really shine in things he's Choreographed for which you might notice when you get to ZB1s stuff. Sweat is a personal favorite of mine for that reason. Also so glad what they could have set up as "drama" in the group kinda fell flat. There was pressure but it never felt mean/cutthroat or anything even with pranks. And god if I'm ever on a show like this and someone would prank me I would slit someones throat I HATE pranks especially when I'm having a hard time.

Lauren Freeman

Sad but the fact so many get to be in groups is incredible!

Jessica Holyfield

oh this came right in time for dinner🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

Dom

This elimination was very sad for me. Mun Junghyun being 29th was my villain origin story lol. He was so close to making it, I cried for the rest of the episode. But he debuted in Evnne with my other faves, so I cried tears of joy in that news 😅
