Oh, I got teary-eyed again listening and looking at you reacting at this song, it's been a while since last I've heard it. The sad/ nostalgic feeling that you've had overall is motivated, because the song is widely considered, among the fans, to be about Jonghyun from SHInee and Sulli from F(x) who were IU's close friends, and died in tragic manner. So themes of the song are memories, loss and passage of time. Because certain themes were and are still considered sort of taboo in Korea, this song was her way to express the loss. It's a very dear song to us all, and a reminder to be mindful everyday on how we approach each other's as human beings.
