That would make sense! I know with it being 2022 I had no idea when groups debuted so I wouldn't be a good source to know that haha

the special judge "super rookies" were basically just nugu groups because at least a few of them had been around for at least over a year i think

That’s unfortunate to hear. I hope the trends of the times allow for more “nice” portrayal in the future…. We shall see

What’s more annoying is that people keep falling for the evil editing. In Queendom Puzzle an idol’s ranking was significantly affected because of the way Mnet portrayed her.
I will say that Mnet tends to “evil edit” female contestants more than their male counterparts so I assume RTK2 will be slightly more chill in that department.

SAY IT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 agree 100%! They all definitely know how to go about being on a show and we all know Mnet will be Mnet which sucks but we know everyone can’t control the power they hold on the music side as much as we wish. REALLY hoping for a wholesome RTK2 but we shall see!!

I can’t get over the editing for this show lol like they try to make tense and dramatic but it ends up being silly.
All these idols are media trained and they won’t seriously offend one another on a show in front of everyone like let’s be real. I wish they kept the more wholesome vibe of S1 and Road to Kingdom.
If we were to cut the dramatic pauses each episode would be like 25 minutes lol

Not sure if I’m remembering this correctly but I think there was a time when Mnet and SM were at odds, like they wouldn’t send their artists to MAMA or participate in their variety shows or anything like that. And Mnet wanted them back real bad. Might not have been SM but I’m sure it was one of the big three. Actually, they could have had spats with more than one company I wouldn’t put it past them.

Wow that is unfortunate!! I wish Chinese artists were treated better because SM has also done a horrible job with treatment as well it sounds like. Glad that they are able to be successful in their homeland!

This is something I literally started piecing together after I made the connection that they may have Taemin as an Emcee…, I mean SM has some POPULAR groups so it makes some sense but do I also think that part of the fact they are able to say no so easily and remove themselves from the lineups is because there is a connection between SM and MNET? Wouldn’t shock me in the slightest.

This is very important insight! Thank you thank you! That legitimately SUCKS that they do that because it just promotes further confusion and makes the whole process even more unreliable! Thank you for letting me know so I can be prepared!

I don’t know if it’s evil editing but reaction editing is strong

for the cheering it was partially to fill up the audience but also it was cheers sent in from around world of people who couldnt be there so thats why they called it a “gift” also no shade but i recorded the live airing and when i watched the actual episode they autotuned EVERYTHING even like insane voice cracks and mistakes. which i will say skews the voting alot and made lots of international viewers mad bc they were wondering why some groups ranked low but did well. the secret is that they didnt and u cant edit live stages so thats why sometimes votes they show on the episode dont seem to correlate with the presentations.
*one of the them was Miyoung’s voice crack at the important high note

yea Xuanyi Meiqi and Cheng Xiao left due to getting mistreated as Chinese members (something pretty common in kpop) Cheng Xiao left first to promote in china and was very successful as just a performer, actor, show host. Meiqi and Xuanyi a couple years later went on Produce 101 China and got 1st and 2nd respectively. Starship then refused to allow them to promote in china and korea simultaneously so they stayed in china and never came back. actually Meiqi and Cheng Xiao were both main dancers and Xuanyi was a lead dancer so its unfortunate they lost great performers.

See the thing is SM almost never has their idols participate in shows like this. They're always either judges or hosts. They don't send their trainees to survival shows either.

Oh my god, I can't believe I forgot to mention, it's not just Dawon who is missing from WJSN for the competition, it's Bona too. Dawon was on break for mental health reasons and Bona was absent because she was filming a drama at the time. WJSN started with 13 members but their 3 Chinese members went to China to do other promotions and were just kind of on hiatus from 2018 until 2023 when they officially left the group. So WJSN now has 10 members and 8 participated in Queendom.
