No I appreciate it!!!

Ohh yeah the volume is great here! I know it was an old video before but I thought I'd say something just in case:)

Thenajs

Goodness I wish that I was able to pin comments because this is absolutely WONDERFUL insight into this performance. So thankful firstly that you took the time to explain and secondly that it makes this piece have so much more depth than one would normally feel going into a routine like this. I learned a lot from what you wrote (shout out to whoever put it on X because they are a real one!) and I'm looking forward to these stages coming VERY SOON!!!

I forgot to say that Junhyeok had already prepared another song but two weeks before he decided to change the song and with the help of Hwi [the member of the new six who is also a producer] they arranged this song and Junhyeok only had a week to practice it before the show. Also about the new six team performance: The handkerchief that flew to Junhyeok had awakened butterfly Junhyeok. So these 5 butterflies (the members) pulled the strings to help butterfly junhyeok to free himself from being trapped🥺 Butterfly symbolize themselves where they’re able to fly high & have the opportunity to dream something after overcoming the feelings of regret, fear, hopeless & trapped. 1. For the intro - at first, hwi played piano with anger. He continue played the piano with more emotional chords while rapping. Then, he walked and put his hand into a small box containing a butterfly. The butterfly in the box = the feeling being trapped and controlled by something 2. Hwi grabbed butterfly into his hand. When the lyrics went “There’s no such miracle anymore” a butterfly (which was a small fabric came out from hwi’s hand & was pulled by his member with a string) flew towards Junhyeok (who had tied & kneeled) & hit him. JH moved a bit means he’s now a butterfly 3. The tangled-up bandage choreo represented the expression of being hopeless, trapped & controlled. When the lyrics went “Gotta Lose Control”, the bandage choreo represents Junhyeok’s butterfly wings as well as symbolism associated to “positive transformations & new beginnings” 4. The bandage was pulled off from Junhyeok, which means Junhyeok who was butterfly that was trapped has finally overcome what was against him (the feeling of hopelessness, regret, fear) & became independent to fly higher cuz the lyrics went “we goin’ high we goin’ high & we never stop” 5. In the end, there was a sound of Morse codes that meant “DREAM”. Junhyeok was the only one standing in the center with butterfly on LED screen after the gunshots (other members fell down) This can be conclude that butterfly= JH finally overcame everything & now they have a dream to achieve. (Someone posted about this on X)

SWEEEEEET! Thank you!

Jessica Holyfield

Looks like the live audience is set up like a music show audience based on the BTS they released of Taemin's mc-ing.

Thank you so much for providing such great insight into Junheok's performance! Absolutely LOVED that he was able to do something meaningful from the get go and that it was well received by many! Also, your English is GREAT! I completely understood what you wrote! Thank you for commenting! Means a lot!

Junheok was on a break for anxiety issues for a year and a half. His sister recommended that song to him during that time and she told him that she would like to see him perform it on stage someday. Junhyeok is the main vocalist during that time the members had to share Junhyeok's lines and they always said that it was hard to perform without a member because they felt that they weren't as strong or impressive without him. sorry for my bad English...

My heart goes out to you and all of the luvitys!! I was so saddened to have to watch them work through those emotions and I truly wish that on NO ONE... Mnet knew what they were doing and honestly no one deserves not being able to perform based on subjective voting, but we see what platform they are on. I will say touching on the ongoing lore Cravity will have established in the show, I am curious if the audience will know about the intro stages or previous ace stages befroe challenge one, since they held the first challenge way before the episode aired on Thursday. I feel that information could either work for Cravity or against depending on the answer, but what I am really hopeful for is if they choose to continue their lore, they (the choreography team involved) will need to make sure the performance can not only continue the storyline, but be able to hold it's own as a standalone performance out of consideration to the audience if that makes sense-- same with The Crew One, ONEUS, TEMPEST, and TNX (since all of them had some "lore" overlap with their ACE performances and their group intro stages. ) I'm really excited to see Cravity full of motivation going into challenge 1 and I'm honestly thankful that this brutal rule was (so far) only in the intro round and not in the main challenge... I would be having LOTS of things to say if this (team doesn't compete) rule continues to the challenges. Thank you for taking the time to share your honesty, emotions, and perspective. Means a lot to hear and receive!

I feel like they 1000% did it to spark drama and get major reactions from the people affiliated and the public. This will most likely spark more involvement from some fans, which means more views, which means more 💸 for Mnet... I know someone else will be on the chopping block next week, we just gotta place our bets on who

Jessica Holyfield

I can totally see what you mean! I felt a little bit like that watching TNX Ace perform but I feel it was because I didn't have enough time to dive into it so it felt to vulnerable too last for the environment maybe? I'm hopeful that we get some great stages in the future episodes!

watching this show cus of taemin, but i finally pinpointed the reason why rtk/kingdom dance performances dont really hit as hard for me. bg idols are mostly trained to do hip hop based choreo but end up straying away from it in their performances because they want to match the dramatic vibes of the show thematically, and it doesnt really click through the screen imo? like hyeongjun's (cravity) really good but his strengths as a dancer arent highlighted at all in this kind of piece

Honestly the penalty didn’t make sense to me but I understand thats a way to create drama. Although it was spoiled before the show the reaction of Cravity really made heart ache.

Anyway, on the episode itself, Thank you for not falling for mnet's editing 🙏 Younite is taking a huge brunt of the evil editing with the sound effects and trying to make Eunsang look bad. Eunsang is a really sweet person and it really sucks since he's getting some hate for how mnet edited him. Unfortunately, even though a lot of fans of the groups already know about mnet's tricks, newer fans and the general public are still falling for it. I also agree that mnet is trying to set up some sort of sympathetic angle with Cravity and I'm really not a fan. This is basically how they set up the Cravity members during Produce X 101 (with all the crying shots). They're just reusing the same tricks with showing them crying for every teaser. Also fun fact, WJSN, the winners of Queendom 2, are under the same company as Cravity. As for the performances themselves, I also had The CrewOne as last in my ace ranking and I was just as shocked as you when they revealed them to be 1st place along with Oneus. I'm guessing his performance was more impactful in person. My favourites were definitely The New Six (TNX) because I really felt the emotion in the song and Younite's because I really liked Dey's flow and lyricism. In the team battles, I had Oneus and 8turn as my favourites. Oneus for the live vocals and their commitment to the concept and I honestly… didn't even realize they made mistakes until they pointed it out. With 8turn, theirs was really impressive with the concept and prop usage. I also personally think having them go after The CrewOne was advantageous for them and disadvantageous for The CrewOne. Them performing their own song really well just highlighted how much The CrewOne's performance felt like a megacrew and not an idol group. I do give The CrewOne massive props though for being so synchronized despite being a newly formed team. I know some of the members aren't even close with each other yet so practicing must have been even more difficult for them compared to the other groups who've known each other for years and have an established group dynamic. I did like Cravity's performance but I do agree with your initial thoughts on the guitar. Same with TNX. There's a disconnect with having the instrument still playing when the person playing isn't acting it out anymore. For me especially, Jungmo's handsyncing being really off for the guitar took me out of their performance… He mentioned on bubble that the custom guitar only arrived the day before recording and he couldn't properly handsync with his right hand or else the props (gears) would fall off. I also thought that the camerawork for it was a bit off, especially when they revealed the mechanism behind the sword. The fullcam actually left me with a better impression of the performance, which is a bit disappointing. Anyway, I also agree that the performances were much better and more thought out for this season compared to Kingdom and I'm really excited for the next performances. I knew most of the groups coming into Queendom, RTK1, Kingdom, and Queendom 2 so it's a new experience for me here since I only really know Cravity and Oneus. So far, all the teams have been really impressive and I'm definitely gonna have to check out their songs (and your analyses).

As a luvity, the reason the penalty pisses me off so much is because cravity and starship are clearly trying to set a whole overarching story with the odyssey into cravity theme in the ace battle, team battle, and also the latest video they posted on their channel. Mnet choosing not to let the other groups watch their performance and not airing it live means that in future episodes, whenever they reference the broken sword or "odyssey into cravity", both the general audience (not luvities) and the other groups won't even know it has any significance or importance in their performance. That affects both live audience voting and also voting from the other groups themselves if they don't actually know the context behind the performances they're watching. I can acknowledge that Hyeongjun placed last in the ace battle and they weren't eligible for voting and winning the pre-round. And I can acknowledge that mnet didn't have to post their team battle performance on youtube. However, that doesn't mean I'm grateful to mnet for giving us that crumb and taking away so much more. Also, I believe they filmed this and immediately after flew to Japan to prepare for their two-day performance (45 minute sets each) on The Star Next Stage. They also had to practice for Gayo Daejeon Summer while preparing for this… The members also currently have a lot of individual schedules (MCs, DJs, variety show hosts, etc.) so… they're being stretched very thin.
