I know right?! I will say the true winners in this show have to be the ballet dancers because of the amount of GROWING they get to experience is crazy!!!

2024-10-06 23:56:13 +0000 UTCSo I actually wanted to do more research about Korean dance and the taekwondo theory before the next episode and it turns out taekwondo wasn't invented in Korea till around the 1940s. But they do have a really old traditional martial arts called taekkyeon/taekkyon and that was around the Three Kingdoms period of Korea and roughly around the time a lot of traditions around dance started to form. So it seems like the two might be linked and helped shape each other. Taekkyeon is even compared to dancing a lot by taekkyeon teachers and Korea also has something called sword dancing. The poses in sword dancing and taekkyeon matched up a lot with some of the moves our dancers have been doing. I'll put some links below if anyone wants to see. I refuse to believe it. Also I'm glad Ivan spoke up rather than let people's misconceptions bite him in the butt later. I'm so curious how much taekwondo aligns with Korean dance? Because a lot of it does look martial arts adjacent at some points and I know taekwondo started in Korea.

2024-10-03 21:21:45 +0000 UTCWe need a "rainbow" counter lol. And also the "fighter' series is mostly shot like this where they really want to showcase the dancers and the culture behind it. I know you didn't watch SWF S1 or S2 full episodes but especially S1 was a really good example of this with many dance crew leaders stating they wouldn't have been on the show if they didn't highlight street dance "correctly" or treated the crews disrespectfully. I honestly believe that's why the fighter series is so well liked by many. SWF S1 were really the pioneers!
