Yes that makes much more sense, at least allowing the judges to make the last decision on the scoring seems like the better option.

Yes yes yes to this!! And I would agree with you to the point of I feel Knucks was including the quality of performance on top of the point I was focusing on and I WISH they did more feedback intention with these as well. I really appreciate the fact you took the time to ask because a lot of times I can be unaware of various ways people take the same information as I so it was a good learning curve for me as well!

Thanks for clarifying and helping us understand further on how you approach your analyses as well! Contextually I took his comment to imply he felt like the time she took up was a let down due to her the quality and modifications that she had to make (compared to other teams’ soloist features) especially as you had mentioned it in your analysis, but I see now what you mean on how you can only comment based on information given to us by the show! For how frustrating the megacrew scoring has been in general, I think what may have helped the viewers is to at least give all the judges more screentime with their feedback so that at least everyone watching can get more insight into how they’re individually justifying their scoring? 😅 Because as it seems the show doesn’t seem to have provided any framework for them to follow to begin with. Hoping they utilise the guest judges better for the elim battles, especially when Waackxxxy has been pretty thorough on her channel when reviewing the show’s previous battles.

So firstly I apologize for giving that impression! I know that primekingz and mannequeen experienced different MC experiences with PKZ not even being in the competition at the point they released theirs. (Which both of theirs are still within top 3 best MC in the entire franchise to this date for me still) The concept of the MC challenge (in my eyes) is the same across all the Street fighter franchise, so even though he wasn’t a part of SWF2 or a part of the SMF original MC segment , I still believe his note about CiiN within the very specific context he spoke about (coming for a couple 8 counts and then leaving) doesn’t feel as effective of a note compared to other aspects of that section, because just like I mentioned that some things brought up by certain judges for certain groups were fine to say, it’s important to be consistent across the board within the scope you decide to stick by for yourself. So instead of using mannequeens MC for example, I should have used OOPS crew’s waacking soloist feature and HXG feature. Because based on what he was specifically referencing (that my perspective was touching on) was the amount of time the feature was on stage, I would feel that if we say the quantity of time is the concern (and not the quality of movement as much) it should be noted for all crews that went that route. Him feeling regretful about that section is 1000% allowed for him to feel that way because I would agree, and I don’t know if he didn’t like the fact we saw her leave so blatantly and that caught his attention, or if it didn’t have anything really to do with the amount of time she was on stage, but the quality of movement she brought DURING her time. That could be a mistranslation or a translation I didn’t understand as clearly! I also know that at this point of the episode viewing, having to switch between the regular judges and the guest is really really hard when all of them are not being set up for success because of the way the challenge was even structured to be adjudicated. So I can try to be more mindful about that next week!

Why would Lip J/Winter being a solo feature for Mannequeen’s megacrew invalidate Knucks’ comment about CiiN’s section in FED’s video if he’s just there to voice his opinion and he’s not even in SWF2? Loved the video but that part in particular kinda makes it feel like you’re reaching to lump the guest judges together as one entity especially when PKZ and Mannequeen’s output for megas were completely different and weren’t even subject to the same (if any) rules.

Hahaha it just ROLLED off the tongue 😂😂 and your words are super encouraging and mean a lot ♥️I love that Vietnam made a Street Fighter season so we could celebrate Vietnamese culture and give it some LOVE!!!

Audience votes had a HEAVY pull this challenge which was interesting to me. Especially since they didn’t attempt to make it a filtered audience like they did for Queendom. That made it unfortunate to me and I’m saddened that groups weren’t set up for a ton of success with this challenge..

Jessica Holyfield

I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE ABOUT STAGE FIGHTER… INCREDIBLE WITH EVERYTHING and it makes me hopeful that we will see a better shift in the future for their other shows! Regarding your question about audience voting and the influence. Personally so SF I wouldn’t have it be a huge influence compared to other shows since how it’s structured with who’s judging is pretty good (but a “fans choice” sounds really fun as an option!) the moment you add an audience score that is outside of the industry that is being judged, it will shift to a significantly higher level of unjustified subjectivity… and that’s not really the audiences fault since they aren’t claiming to KNOW know like professionals of that makes sense! That’s why I don’t blame audiences when I watch shows compared to judges on panels when they go subjective and not respectful in their scoring. I hope I was able to make sense!

THE BASKET RUNS NOW RUN IN OUR VEINS HAHA!! I WILL NO LONGER SUFFER ALONE 😆

Jessica Holyfield

This judge scoring issue, just makes me appreciate Stage Fighter even more, its format and how knowledgeable and experienced the judges are in the styles they are judging. My favourite team is SSWarriors due to their personality, spirit and style, the moment Mai Thien Quan started speaking I couldn't hold the tears no longer🥲. As someone who's not Vietnamese, these girls should be proud, MTpop brought Vietnam to the world and these girls are bringing the world into Vietnamese culture, I'm learning and appreciating so much about it. Do you think it's ever valid for these types of Dance shows (or even dance battles) to include audience voting? If Stage Fighter was to include audience voting, would that affect it negatively although they have good judges?

YnuBento

frankly i think OOPS deserved first, they had my favorite Mega and I think its very evil how high their score was from judges and how it didnt even matter because the audience votes WASHED

Kevin

also for the voting… wow i can only assume there is outside/pop culture influence bc frankly these audience votes make no sense to me. i know public onion around FED is really good bc i dont see any other reason for them getting that many more votes than OOPS who I can only assume have a lower public opinion due to them being a “cover group” and with the perception of them being kind of tarnished from the start. I know HXG also has a lower public opinion as well from the drama. and SOFIRE has a pretty well known presence online. IDK i think im trying to see from an outside pov to see where such influence from these scores are from. SSWARRIORs score was predictable theres always a round created with the intent to knock out the best battling team to prevent them from making it purely based off the battles which is truly unfortunate.

Kevin

i think for judges unless you give a score in the 90s i want to hear what u think they couldve improved. i dont care about what u liked bc u clearly gave a low score bc there were things you didnt like. i also think its so funny how ive been so conditioned to spot basket runs its insane

Kevin

It is so devastating seeing SS Warriorz go! They truly felt like the MVP throughout the whole show and always lifted all the crews up along the way! I think their elimination might be one of the saddest in the Street Fighter franchise ToT But also thank you so much again Jess for all your hard work creating all these reactions daily and I cannot show how much appreciation I have for you reacting to SWF Vietnam as a Vietnamese person! YOU ARE THE DANCE REACTOR MVP TBH!!! <3 Also, "the testosterone has entered the chat" is so funny and such a good explanation of the Knuck's showcase XD
