Ah! I forgot to talk about my discomfort about C-Walk vs Top Rock... This simply comes from the saturation of the C-Walk ALWAYS being identified as a gang dance (Buddha Stretch, Link and Castro just off the top) and always heeding warnings of being mindful when and where you choose to partake, compared to Top rocks not receiving that degree of vocalization when discussed. This makes me want to dig much deeper to uncover the relationships between them all so I can develop a more well rounded viewpoint about this exact thing! You know I'm one for "If we gotta talk about one in this way, we gotta talk about them ALL in this way!" Thanks for listening to my TED Talk haha

I love good TED talks haha. I mean you know I can TED talk on anything dance related for 3-5 buisness days if you so desired haha. Firstly, I really appreciate that you are having this discussion with me! Means a lot! Also your English is GREAT! I wouldn't have thought that it was your second language at all based on our conversations so if anything you should be proud of your phrasing! I can agree to many points you shared and I know that you come from an "outside-of-America" lens which is very important to introduce these topics and grow us all along the way. I am one as you've noticed who tries to be an advocate for things that normally don't get advocated for. As a white female American speaking about Black American/ Latin American culture, it is a HIGHLY sensitive subject here. So I'm a lot of times stuck between a rock and a hard place on the best approach to these types of topics. My goal in bringing up my feelings and discussing my observations, is to bring a curiosity and awareness on behalf of people in my country that a lot of times don't get talked about specifically by white people.... I live in the south and REALLY understand this and it hurts me deeply that the system is shown like this... I hope that by continuing to receive grace here in this area (which I appreciate that you have definitely done!) I can continue to be one who can be considerate of those who have been hurt by the lack of advocacy, but also appreciate the art and inspiration at the same time. ( I promise I tried my best here haha) because to your exact points that literally everything has been influenced by something culturally outside of itself (the literal hip hop sound incepted by DJ Kool Herc partially stems from an influence of Jamaican Reggae (which that was also influenced by American Jazz, etc) pre birth of Hiphop) but I also know you may know that as well haha. All in all I appreciate that we get to have this discussion and I will continue adjusting and figuring out the best approach to talking about these things because I think it's still really cool to observe and note about the historical references! And side note..... The sheer fact that they pulled GTA SOOO FREAKING WELL, I am legitimately shook haha.

i respect your decision to not wanting to learn the choreo for your reasons but i highly dissagree with your arguments.first off ,yes young posse write their own songs and they said themselfes the song is a tribute to 90's west coast like dr dre snoop dogg so its not like they aren't aware of what they sing.its was clearly intended to being a tribute.
also i don't understand why you feel "incomfortable" cause they are wearing cholo clothes yet many latinos (latino americans and outside of america) don't have a problem with them sharing their culture. so if they aren't incomfortable you shoudn't either.a few week ago a saw a latino producer from l.A who react to ate that and he feel very flated they paid tribute to his culture.
regarding c walk and his gang origin its not the first dance who had gang origin.top rock moves in breakdance are originaly from uprocking which itself is a gang dance.so i find odd you feel "inconfortable" young posse doing c walk yet you don't have a problem with toprock.
now when its come to culture i think ive already talk about you what i think(i mean i'm not the only one feeling like that but whathever) .every culture are the byproduct of multiples cultural influences .and while its important to know the history of where these cultures came from especially marginalised group like black and latinos(asians are also marginalised but sometimes people forget) its also important to reconize these cultures are the byproduct "cultural alteration".
ive spoke about breakdancing previously but i think you know breakdance moves had multiples influences.lots of "down rock" (floor moves) are taken from kung fu movies from the 70s of shaw brothers golden harvest and bruce lee (im not going to talk about the influence of martial movies on hip hop in general is way too long and i think you know that already). and some of toprock moves come from salsa mereinge and other latin dance.so these "gang moves" were already culturally altered
also ,its not a dig personally agaisnt you but its something ive observed . when western folks(especially americans) borrow from asian culture its celebreated as "innovation" yet when asians borrow from western culture they getting critcized and get lecture by westeners about "cultural sensibility" when americans doesn't have the best track records regarding cultural sensibility.i remember hip hop r&b videos from 2000s(and even now) making very orientalists music videos they get no scrutiny.
now don't worry you making a good job and i understand because you had lots of experience in street dance culture and being american you want to "educate"(i find this word condescent but its another subject) regarding the history of these cultures and the marginalisation of black in us is still a big issue.however we should not forget kpop is a global (not just american) phenomen so you had a audience from all over the globe and the issue kpop fans accorss the words had to face isn't less horrible than black americna .in fact its similar.
sorry that was my ted talk and sorry for mistakes cause english isn't my first language i'm from france.so i speak from a perspective from outside america.^^

I definitely get what you were saying. It feels like everything wasn’t communicated all the way across the board. Like the music and choreography departments were together but they didn’t tell the stylists.
Then like you said it doesn’t work because of the history and the culture. So I definitely get why and thank you for pointing it out.
Random side note: They have a No CGI version for Macaroni Cheese and XXL as well.
