I totally feel what you mean- Billlie have tackled A LOT of different styles even just being a relatively new group, but they always keep it within their scope and I think it helps retain their group identity. Definitely a lot of great stuff to come, and this track is actually a b-side promoted along with their title track eunoia which to my untrained eye definitely has a lot of street elements to it, still with that Billlie poise! As for the pipe, it rattled around in my brain when I first heard it too! isnt it so cool how a line like that can stick with you from a song? Well from what I researched, it is actually a reference to the famous Rene Magritte painting that depicts a tobacco pipe but holds the caption “this is not a pipe” and it is commentary on what I have seen referred to as “the treachery of images”- very interesting to chew on! Look at me with my groups that reference famous art pieces 😅 so glad you got to enjoy this track! I definitely have more fun stuff coming you way and if you like funky tracks Billlie has GOT YOU!
