Last year I picked up a mentor for tutting and the main style she tuts in is vogue, so I’ve gained an appreciation of the culture through her. So rewatching this with you and going through those sections has bothered me as well, mainly because I’m seeing my mentor’s style being treated this way, but also because no style should be treated like that when everyone in the show, and in dance in general, talks about respect. I don’t fully blame the show though because, as you mentioned, it may be more of a China as a whole issue than an SDC issue, it just feels weird that they aren’t allowed to call it vogue nor use some of the vocabulary.
