So time for some Dance Inception. Rikimaru Chikada is the choreographer of this piece. His sister Yumeri Chikada was on Streetwoman fighter. They both taught and did workshops at 1Million Dance Studio. When he lived in California Rikimaru was a member of ImmaBEAST. Rikimaru also choreographed Taemin's Famous. Rikimaru was in a Jpop group under Avex, WarpsUp, along with Santa from "The Great Dance Crew." WarpsUp is the progenitor group for Jpop group One or Eight (they were formerly called Warps Roots). Both he and Santa went to China's Produce 101 in 2021 (pretty much threatened by their management team to go or else). Winning third and second spot respectively and also became part of the Cpop limited group Into1. One of Into1's best choreographed pieces is Hit the Punchline which was choreographed by Ma Xiaolong. There are probably more connections that I missed but basically in the upper level Asian dance scene everyone seems to know everyone else.

I knew I could rely on you for the answers to my questions! And having this be a Covid anthem meme sounds like a vibe haha ! I bet they had a good headspace for it because of how the interactions were structured. I also know that I would also approach it with more willingness to collaborate knowing what I know now in how she operates as a performer! Love the Key-BoA connection! Really fun!

I am actually not a huge fan of One Shot Two Shot (apart from finding the "COVID vaccination anthem!!!" jokes very funny, lol), but I recommended this because I find the BTS very interesting with regard to BoA's fixation with finding a point choreo and the workshopping involved. Was curious about your take on it all because I definitely come at this footage from a BoA fan perspective, i.e. generally happy to see what she is contributing to the work overall! Totally get where you're coming from re: the potential for frustration--I'd hope that everyone involved was cognizant of the headspace to be in since BoA has had a considerable amount of input into her work since at least 2004.
Re: why Key was in this, the BTS footage here is from BoA's 2018 comeback reality show "Keyword BoA" where the whole intention was to get up close and personal with BoA's life and show a different side of her than what the fans typically see. Key was then cast as essentially the proxy for the fans because he is actually an OG BoA fan who decided to become an artist and, specifically, audition at SM because SM was where BoA was.
Re: the MV specific choreo, totally agree it got wasted since it wasn't really shown in the MV at all LOL. Though the final cut is ultimately at the MV director's discretion--my impression is that BoA doesn't get that involved on the final outcome of the MVs since I've seen her express sentiments akin to "I was expecting more story segments to be in this MV but it ended up being mostly dance scenes again?" multiple times in the past. There is actually MV shooting BTS footage from this show too that I cut because I thought the video was already getting too long, haha.
