Omg I love this so much! NEVER apologize for the word vomit! You see how long my videos are so I REALLY have no room to talk haha. Love getting to hear more about how the fandom operates within the NCT Universe and thinking through the units is also super fun!!1

I can't believe that I just came across this randomly and missed it when you dropped it originally lol. I'm a big multistan, so I follow a lot groups but P1Harmony is definitely one of my favorite groups to watch cover other group's tracks! They're just simply phenomenal at bringing their own charms and skills and I always feel like it's a testament to how good their chemistry as a group is alongside their obvious talent and skill.
I don't do much requesting of NCT because I know Kit regularly does but they are my Ult group so I'll have a go with my theory on as to why they don't prioritize cleaning their choreography a lot. NCT WISH is the odd subunit out but I think the generation they debuted in makes the most difference for them as far as cleanliness as a priority. NCT DREAM is also cleaner than 127 but I think that may have to do with how young they debuted and them growing as dancers together but it's also noticeable when choreo sits differently on their individual members too at times. WayV also has the individuality thing going on, but none as much as 127 lol, which is also probably because they're the largest fixed unit in terms of members.
The only official word that they themselves have said on the matter is that it's SM's intention for them to retain their individuality in dancing, but that was years back by now and I don't think they've ever really talked in detail about it since. It's kind of just a thing that most NCTzens just accept and have grown to love imo. But I think it has to do with cultivating soloists (127 in particular has 5 out of 8 members that have officially debuted or put out solos with concerts and all for most with Mark's solo debut happening this year soon), and the fact that NCT is a very vocal/live vocal focused group, like significantly more so than most people realize.
127 in particular also seems to cram a lot of stuff into their schedule (i.e the solos, two of the vocalists being in grad school while at the same time as promotions up until they graduated last year, members being in Dramas/movies/musicals and often being in different countries for brand ambassador duties), so I also legitimately think that striving for a P1Harmony level of cleanliness might just be too logistically complicated to commit to for them.
That's all speculation, naturally lol. Just observations from following them as a fan since debut. They're also just kind of a counter-culture sort of group, both in concept and how a lot of the members come off when they speak about themselves. They really are at their best when they perform live, which is kind of the lane that NCT occupies in the industry nowadays. The broader public doesn't really bring them up in terms of choreography (as a group) nearly as much as they bring up their live vocals.
P1Harmony makes 2 Baddies look like a completely different choreo at times for sure though 🤣
Apologies for the essay, this is just something I think about often because how NCT is received by their fans is often very different to how they're received by casual viewers and I find the differences fascinating everytime. Like, NCTzens notice the lack of cleanliness too but it's more often a springboard to talk about what individual members bring to the dance or performance. Almost like we're conditioned to take them in as a group and as individual artists all at the same time 🤣. There's been channels with whole series dedicated to breaking down/highlighting a bunch of members movement quality, style and the differences that we can find even when they're all doing the same choreo, it's almost like a niche aspect of stanning NCT. I won't word vomit anymore, loved the reaction as always!

I think Piwon is kind of know for being really good at covering other artists songs. I’ve seen them cover a wide range of styles and genres and pull them off with style. The thing I admire most about them is that they always respect the original while still managing to make it their own.

I love this take! I think that one of my favorite things about P1harmony is the fact that even the members who arent "dancers" and consider themselves vocalist are extremely clean too and they are able to keep up with the others! An example would be Theo, who has said himself that he does not enjoy dancing and choreography, but in every dance practice, you can see him putting in work to be able to macth the others! He could use it as an excuse to kind of sit back, but he doesn't and I really appreciate that about all of them.
