I finally decided to take on the challenge of recreating the ideas behind the Mad Mage campaign.
- Because of the 16:9 aspect of the maps, I had to change the layout and size of the rooms a bit, but I think you can easily tell what the locations are.
- Many maps, if possible and if it makes sense, will have an alternate version without furniture. This will be useful for patrons who use 3d terrain and those who just want more versatile dungeon maps. I will also occasionally do versions with animated traps for Divine patrons.
- I intentionally make larger area maps for epic battles with big monsters, whereas smaller encounter maps will have your players' characters constrained by walls.
- I'm trying to avoid boring 10ft corridors as much as possible by adding niches, rifts, and obstacles that will give your players and monsters a lot more tactical options.
- I'll be making props of doors and secret walls for maps with which you can block the path. I will also occasionally add additional props, unrelated to the Mad Mage Dungeon, so that you can customize the maps even more for your adventures.
- I'm paying special attention to locations where the story involves encounters with monsters. For empty and boring rooms, I will make a simple constructor from which you can make such locations.
