New Scene preview and Patreon tiers heads up

Hello people!

TLDR: Work has been progressing well on my latest scene, it is almost ready for Early Access and I’ve made some big strides with my SuperSpeech system. I am also going to be updating the pricing model for my Patreon page.

Net Cafe: The Porno Shoot

When I was building Net Cafe I knew from very early on that I needed some good porn for Tetsuo to be watching on his computer if the scene was going to work as I intended. I could have been lazy and put in some real life porn, but that’s not how I wanted to do it. It had to be my own work, and it had to be good.

I had often wondered about making a proper porn shoot scene in VAM, and not just a series of scenes but a proper story with characters. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a go. Armed with my shiny new speech system I took two of my favourite characters, Gerry and Noyah (returning from her role in my earlier scene Mirage), and put them in a bedroom with a camera to see what naughtiness they would get up to.

And oh boy did they get up to some naughtiness, I’ll let the screenshots do the talking on that one. If you’ve played Net Cafe then of course you’ve also already seen an early version of what this scene has to offer on Tetsuo’s computer.

SuperSpeech

My SuperSpeech system has 2 huge new additions that are going to change the way I make scenes.

Scene Branching

Stories can now branch at any point and the story or action can continue seamlessly with no cuts down either path. Branches are unlimited and offer huge new opportunities in scene building and storytelling. This system took months of planning to work out. At many points I thought it would be impossible to do it the way I wanted but I persisted, and once I hit on the right method I was floored at how elegant and easy to use it was.

Speed Sliders

I have built a system for controlling the animation speed with a slider that mixes in seamlessly with the story progress. At any point during a scene a slider can be summoned to give control over the animation speed to the player, giving yet another level of immersion. Talking can continue and the scene can even branch with the slider active, and there can be multiple speed sliders consecutively during a scene if required.

Both of these new systems have turned out even better than I expected and I will be making full use of them in the future. With these new features it also means that my SuperSpeech system is now pretty much complete, and when it has been put through its paces out in the real world I will be putting some focus on building a full template and tutorial for the community to use. I can’t give a good estimate on when this will be finished though, the system might be neat but this is a huge task so it will take quite some time. I will also be doing this alongside my usual scene building as I still want to be bringing you new and exciting scenes.

Patreon tiers update

I have thought long and hard about how I want my Patreon page to work. Long ago I decided I wanted to remove tiers entirely and let people pledge whatever they want. I am hugely gratified to see many people chose to pledge more than the minimum, but it turns out unfortunately the majority did not. This is fair enough I guess, honestly I’d think about doing the same even if I really liked the creator.

As it stands though I make almost nothing off Patreon compared to the hours of work I put in. In a perfect world I’d really like it if my hobby could actually pay for itself. In the real world I am self employed and I manage to get by just about. I am lucky that my real life work gives me the time I need to build my VAM projects but it also means I have to live a very frugal life. My PC is getting old and I’d really hope that all this work in VAM could count towards something more for me than just some sweet porno scenes.

Starting next month my plan is to offer 3 tiers for Patreon, £5, £10 and £20. In the new system all three will get Early Access scenes and Patreon Exclusive scenes, and for now £10 and £20 will be for if you really like my work and want an extra warm glow inside from your generosity. : ) I’m not sure how it will work for existing patrons below £5, but I think they will still be able to get scene previews and updates.
