Well *Bleep* (Progress Report attempt 2)
Added 2018-08-24 21:47:50 +0000 UTC*sigh* I had a nice long explanatory post written early in the A.M. this morning, only for it to be wiped out by a power outage as I was editing it. As such, I'm going to make a long story shorter.
I horribly, horribly, horribly underestimated the amount of code I would need for the first build of The Sexy Cosplay Cafe. I've already written the equivalent of about half the total code for Eros Academy, a game that's been in development for over a year and a half, and I still have around another 2000 lines of code (I estimate) to add. And all that in pure spite of much better planning, code discipline, and some genuine object orientation for the new game. Add in losing both some code and several hours of time to the repeated power loses last night and I feel like I have no choice but to essentially pause development on the new game for a few days.
Why?
Because I still need to do the renders for this month's Eros Academy update. I've been able to put it off this long purely because I deliberately picked out a scene set from my list of ideas that would be fairly easy on me. The assets I purchased for it are actual, genuine, honest-to-god Daz3d store assets, with at least a few of the poses I needed included in the asset set (not even close to all of them, but still). At this point I only have about a week to get a 20 render update done, though, so I have to get moving on it. And, sadly, I do pretty much all my work on the same machine. As such, this means slowing my work on the new code.
Net result, there is still a small chance that I will put the first build of the new game out this month (I'm still going to try). But it's fairly likely it will be in the first week or so of next month. Unless someone else major happens, it won't be longer than that, as I'm in the home stretch now. I'm probably abut 85% done with the code, and most of what remains is of the simple-but-time-consuming variety, rather that the pull-my-hair-out-trying-to-write variety. Essentially, all I have left is about 40% of Mira's content, the tutorial, and a few 'polish' details like a main menu composite image and a few background music tracks. Everything else is finished (And backed up in case of more problems -_-).
